Just a little oneshot for Alyss Mainwaring's birthday. Happy birthday to you!
"Alyss, come to my house at noon for some lunch? You haven't been over in ages, and my poor cabin is missing you," Will begged, grinning cheekily.
"Fine, but only for the sake of your cabins sanity!" Alyss answered just as jokingly, but inside she felt the hurt stab even deeper. It was her birthday, but no one, not even Will or Lady Pauline, seemed to remember, or if they did remember, they didn't seem to care.
By noon, not one single birthday wish had reached her, so she decided to let it go. If other people couldn't make an effort for her, Alyss was going to make an effort for them! So Alyss dressed as nicely as she could for Will's lunch invitation, wearing a light aqua gown with sapphires set into both the waist and the neckline. She wore some matching silver slippers and silver jewelry as well, and but her hair up in a bun, leaving a few strands loose to frame her face. Finally, Alyss donned her dark blue cape with silver gems on the tie, and set off. When she arrived at Will's cabin the clearing was deserted, which was odd, since Will normally met her outside the cabin. Tug was standing there with Ebony, so Will was probably home, but as far as Alyss could tell, there wasn't anyone inside. Suddenly, there was a unanimous, huge roar that came from the trees.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" People screamed, jumping out from behind bushes and trees. Suddenly, Will was in front of Alyss, kissing her passionately.
"Happy birthday," Will whispered into her ear, before melting into the crowd and leaving her with Lady Pauline.
"Happy birthday, Alyss. We got as many friends as possible over," Lady Pauline said. Alyss looked around. Indeed, a lot of her friends were there.
Will, Horace, Jenny, Halt, George, Gilan, Malcolm, Baron Arald, Lady Pauline, Erak, Sevengal, Selethen, Shigeru and even Evanlyn were there. So they all had some fun, ate some food and had some drinks. Then the cake was brought out. It was huge, a twelve layer cake. The cake was plain white with light blue icing in rings around the edge of the cake layers. On the top were the words 'Happy Birthday, Alyss!'
Will came up to her and handed her a knife (luckily, it was a cutlery knife, not Will's ranger knife!) and Alyss cut the cake. When she touched the bottom, Jenny shouted
"Kiss the closest boy!" So Alyss turned and kissed Will.
After that everyone just hung out in the cabin and talked. It wasn't a huge event in a castle with banners and the king giving her expensive gifts, but in it's own way, this small party meant much more to Alyss.
