Motivated by a lost hope to stop the corruption within his Clan, Hawkeye decided to leave ShadowClan accompanied by a ex-kittypet, Wolfpaw, but not without serious confrontation from Silverfang, a ShadowClan warrior. Both toms are injured and angry at their excuse of a Clan. What happens to them next is up to StarClan.

The bright stars sparkled in the black sky, shedding minimal light onto the moor as two toms leaned into one another, both battered and weak. Pausing, Hawkeye and Wolfpaw gazed wearily into the shadows of the forest ahead of them. Beside them was the silvery snake of the stream that separated ThunderClan and ShadowClan. Its soft rippling accompanying the sound of the wind and Hawkeye's labored breathing as everything else fell to silence. The trees ahead of them towered high over their heads as the leaves of the oak trees rustled softly in the warm breeze, easing the spiked fur along their spines as the remaining hostility was slowly forgotten. Dark, inky black shadows consumed the forest that spanded endlessly ahead of them, their paws firmly planted in the grass that defined the border before locking gazes with one another.

In Hawkeye's piercing blue gaze was icy rage. Fresh from a Clan he fought so hard to change, but refused to hear him. Above him, the stars never felt so empty. No StarClan would allow ShadowClan to decay into rogues who have the audacity to call themselves warriors. His thick, dark brown pelt was matted in fresh crimson blood, but his eyes refused to show pain despite the rattling of his breath and the edges of his wounds constantly rubbing against each other with every movement he made.

Beside him, the older tom looked down at Hawkeye, his dark blue eyes hung in sorrow but he met the warrior's gaze with determination. Wolfpaw had not been in ShadowClan for long and Hawkeye was little more than a stranger, but he knew enough to choose the brave warrior's side in his defense against Waspstar and Silverfang. He may not have been born a warrior, but he had to be blind to see that ShadowClan had no code. Wolfpaw's thick gray pelt was layered in worn herb solutions, the deep wounds carved by Waspstar's claws only were recently treated by Rainheart, but luckily, the poppy seeds he had taken earlier had dulled his pain enough for him to worry about Hawkeye.

As the two toms gazed at one another, no words passed between them. No word was required as the they resonated understanding. Hawkeye dipped his head slowly to Wolfpaw, feeling the blood from his open wounds soaking into the large gray tom's fur.

To Wolfpaw, he believed that the moment they set a paw into the forest and into uncharted territory, there was no going back. However, Hawkeye knew that they had passed the point of no return long ago.

Together, the two tom's limped into the shadows of the forest, breaking their ties with everything that they left behind.
