First Sight

"Mommy, when you first met daddy, was it love at first sight?" Nita looked up from her paper and crayons.

"Was it love at first sight?" Korra chuckled. "Not quite, actually… At first, I thought your father was arrogant and selfish, then I got to know him a bit better, and I saw that he wasn't as bad as I thought."

The smile disappeared from her daughter's face. "Daddy was a bad man…?"

The mother chuckled again. "No, Nita, not quite… Misguided, I should say. But he was never a bad person."

"How did you two meet?" Kenai the eldest asked from his book.

"I was seventeen. I arrived in Republic City, just getting to know the place, and your father recruited me in his Task Force. We met on Air Temple Island. At the time he had no idea that Amon was actually Uncle Noatak…"

"When I first met your mother, I thought she was irresponsible and ignorant," Tarrlok just walked into the living room. "There was so much going on in Republic City, and I thought she wasn't focused on her Avatar duties."

"Irresponsible, hm…" Korra raised an eyebrow at her husband.

Tarrlok laughed in defence. "You're not irresponsible anymore, sweetie. But I wasn't the one riding a polar bear-dog aimlessly throughout the city."

She playfully leered at her husband, arms crossed.

Their children giggled. The playful banter between their parents was entertaining and hilarious to watch.

"As I said I was seventeen… And, hey, if you only lived on a compound for your entire childhood, you'd understand what it would be like wandering around the city your first time."

Her husband kissed her on the forehead.

"You still got the magic, babe..."

She playfully slugged Tarrlok. "Bonehead..."

Note

Kind of inspired by 'Pride and Prejudice' and thought of Korrlok. Tarrlok is a cocky poo-poo head, and Korra is just as opinionated and sassy as Elizabeth.
