You might know about my putting stories on Hiatus, so here is a oneshot for all of those Phantom of the Opera fans. There isn't enough facfiction about it out there, so I'm contributing. By the way, this is based off of the movie version.

You'll Always Have Me

"Masquerade… Paper faces on parade. Masquerade. Find a place where the world will ever find you… Christine I love you…" His voice quavers as he sings the words to the familiar song. He has evidently suffered much grief, and recently.

The little monkey clashes its cymbals, a permanent smile on his face, unfeeling, uncaring.

"I know." The man with the mask looks up. It's her. That beautiful face. Her earnest, caring eyes looking at him with an emotion he cannot place. She kneels in front of him, stroking the side of his face, the one not covered by his mask. "I know."

"You came back." His face is unreadable, but the pounding of his heart indicates his hope.

"Yes, I came back." Slowly she reaches up and pulls of the mask, showing the disfigured face underneath. "I realized, that despite everything you have done, I still see some good in your heart. And I realized, that I would even rather stay with you, then go off and never see you again. So I'm not going back I'm going to stay here with you."

"What are you saying?"

She takes a deep breath. "I'm saying… that I love you too."

And then she was in his arms, and he was in hers, and they were spinning in circles round and round. And he was laughing, and tears were running down her face, and neither had ever been so happy.

"Christine…"

"Yes?"

"Why me?"

"Because you saw me when no one else would. You knew me for who I was. No one else did. Except for father, and he is long gone."

"Do you still miss him?"

"Of course. But I have you know, don't I?"

With that she kisses him on the forehead, and he responds with his own passionate kiss. When they come up for air, he whispers.

"You'll always have me."
