A/N: hopefully this is going to be my one big fic- putting together everything- deep friendship, some slash, action, angst...this should have it all baby. This is also partly, besides my b-day (the 12th of June) that kept me from updating. Im going to get back on track. I swear.

If you had asked me years upon years ago where my life was heading, I wouldn't have hesitated at all in answering you. I wanted my boys, I wanted Brooklyn. Even when I was too old, I still wanted to be a part, somehow, of being a newsboy. Of being a newsie.
If you had mentioned a gang, I would have laughed at you. A gang? What did people think Brooklyn was, exactly? I didn't realize it then, but I was blind to the point of ignorance. I had developed a blind eye to what I didn't want to see.
But, there came a time when I couldn't do that any longer, and what I saw...
What I saw one cold winter night...totally threw my whole world into disarray. Everything I had known, everything I thought I understood...Because in reality I didn't know anything. In the big world, my boys and I were nothing, nothing but little children.
We were nothing more than pawns, kept around until we were no longer useful, and then discarded without a second thought or glance. We were dispensable, after all there were plenty of people to fill our empty shoes.
I was a pawn.
I just didn't know it yet.
