Penelope's Anger

Summary: A very different reunion with a very OOC Penelope.

Disclaimer: I definitely don't own The Odyssey

What have you to tell me, Odysseus?

That though you were with almost every woman in Greece, I remained in your heart?

Would you like to bathe me in compliments and twist your stories to make my heart ache for you?

Would you like me to cry for my poor husband's bitter voyage?

Shall I make you feel like a grand hero by kissing your feet and swearing to Zeus himself that I was faithful?

That even though I shed bitter tears over your disappearance, you gave not one thought to me?

Should I feel happy that you disguised yourself and didn't even trust me, your own wife?

Should I be honored that you watched me cry for you and did nothing?

You had to test me? Am I supposed to be grateful for this?

You love me more than anything else?

Flatter me not, Odysseus. Of all the women you have flirted with and complimented, I am the one who remains impassive. Because I have seen your tricks, my darling. Your cunning, manipulative traps for everyone.

You, you who could not trust his own dear father, let alone his miserable wife. Women are not to be trusted, we are deceptive, weak creatures, are we not, dear husband?

So tell me not, my strong warrior, the truth. Tell me not of the women you met. Tell me not of the mistakes that kept us apart. Only tell me your pretty little lies that will soothe my weak soul.

After all, that is all I need to ever know. Is it not, Odysseus?

Yes, very short and angsty! Just the way I like it

I had recently read a poem about Penelope that hinted at a bit of resentment on her part, and I have just finished The Odyssey, so I went further with this idea of Penelope being angry with Odysseus. I never really liked Odysseus that much so I may be a little biased, but Penelope's passive nature upset me a lot. Its obvious women weren't held with much high esteem then, and if Penelope had actually said all this, who knows what Odysseus might have done? But yeah, that's enough from me. I hope you enjoyed it! Review!!! Pretty Please?
