The night breeze whipped across the sky as the graveled path was traveled on, unlike it had been in years. In fact, it had not been used ever. A boy walked alongside a small mouse with large, round ears. They both matched, sporting long, leather coats. Their boots crunched against the ground, shooting smoky dust into the clear atmosphere. The boy pushed the dirt off his leather coat, obviously tired, his hands just barely touching the piece of clothing.

"Your majesty, can we rest now?" asked the boy, his blue hair shiftting in the night breeze. They walked alone, together, on a path to dawn among endless plains of nothingness and darkness. The boy, Riku, looked at the mouse of royalty, awaiting an answer.

"Of course, Riku. You need all the sleep you can get!" exclaimed the mouse, in a rounded, kind voice. It was high-toned and not as mighty as a king would seem. He laughed and looked around.

"And you don't?" asked Riku, his eyes suspiciously eyeing the King.

"Oh… of course I do! Ehehe… And just call me Mickey, please!" said Mickey happily, and quickly changing the subject. "Well. I guess we have no choice! We can stop anywhere for miles and it would be like the spot before. Let's stop here!" Riku put the suspiciousness to the back of his thought –filled mind. "Yeah, I guess you are right."

Mickey stopped short. "Golly! Look, Riku! It's a girl!" Mickey pointed his gloved finger about fifty feet down the path to a figure that lied beside the road twirling a finger in her silver locks of hair.

"Yeah! It really is someone! Let's go!" said Riku, starting into a run for the girl. He was excited about the fact that someone was actually on the twilit road. His heart pounded in his chest as he screeched to a stop next to the girl who did not move, but simply continued to look at the dark navy, cleared night sky.

"Er… hi? "said Riku, looking into the girl's view of sight, raising a brow, unaware of how to confront her.

"AHHH!" screamed the girl, slapping Riku across the face, making him fall back onto the gravel. She flew to her feet; her silver locks of hair in a tangled mess of fear. "What is WRONG with you?"

"What is wrong with YOU?" countered Riku holding his red, contorted face in pain.

"Well, you shouldn't just jump out of nowhere like that," she declared after a moment of holding her face in her hands.

"Well, you should have heard me running from up that hill!" said Riku, motioning his gloved hand to the hill he had just run down.

"What? So a girl can't daydream! And there is no hill, moron!" said the girl, also motioning where Riku's hand was pointing.

"Huh?" muttered Riku, looking toward the direction of the hill. No hill. Riku opened his mouth to say something, but nothing came out. Then something hit him across the face, and this time it wasn't the girl's sharp hand. Mickey was gone.
