Author's Note: This song was inspired by the part of Twilight where Edward is explaining the Cullen's origins to Bella. It popped into my head late last night, and now you can all mock my attempts at lyrical work.

The tune is somewhat mournful, in my mind, but I can't think of any way to describe it. I may try and type up some sheet music, but until then, I'm open to suggestions.

Disclaimer: I am not anywhere near cool enough to have written Twilight; that honor belongs to Stephanie Meyer, one of the greatest literary minds to walk the Earth.

Currently Untitled:

"In the past we once were,

As a distant memory.

In the past we once were,

A nightmare made flesh.

In the past we once were,

The crimson-eyed immortals.

In the past we once were,

The vampires of song.

.

But it's here we now live,

Unsuspected but still present.

But it's here we now live,

Among the restless world.

But it's here we now live,

Cloaked in a thousand secrets.

But it's here we now live,

The vampires of song.

.

And with us you will dwell,

Unchanging and eternal.

And with us you will dwell,

Your eyes gold and black.

And with us you will dwell,

Icy, pale and perfect.

And with us you will dwell,

A vampire of song."

I imagine Alice singing the last part, from the first "And with us". Again, anyone with title or tune-related suggestions should please pass them on.
