"Take this, asshat!" Ares roared, flames bursting from his maw to encircle the wild horde of pokemon that had dared to attack his Cammie. Said Eevee just blinked and stared in awe.
Once they were all defeated, a bright light surrounded the Charmander, "What the hell?!"
Cammie gasped, "Ares, you're evolving!"
She watched as the light grew brighter until it dissolved completely, leaving behind a Charmeleon. He was no longer orange in color but a bright red instead. His tail flame was bigger as well as his body in general, his fangs and claws were longer in length. He smirked, flexing his arms before catching her eye and winking.
She blushed, "Hothead," was muttered beneath her breath as Ares walked over – more like sauntered.
"You're even bigger now," she whined at his ever-widening smirk, "how am I ever going to kiss you now?"
The now Charmeleon chortled, picking her up to nuzzle her, "Just ask me to pick you up, I won't hesitate – I promise."
She snorted at the hidden message in his tone, "Yeah, yeah, just wait until I evolve," she pressed her cheek to his scaly one, "I'll catch up in no time."
"Sure you will," he murmured softly as he pressed his maw to hers in a kiss. It wasn't perfect, but it worked for them and that was all that mattered.
"I will."
"What about when I become a Charizard, huh?"

"..."
"You're a jerk," she growled, and he laughed as he carried her back to their house, ignoring her threats to pound him.
