Sorry to those out there that are waiting for the next chapter of my other story; it may not come for a while.

Please help me out with my spelling. (If I spelled Tortuga, islla de muerta, or anything else wrong let me know

Summery: I was thinking, when did Jack ever promise that Elizabeth would be safe? This is my take on what could have happened. Mostly Will's thoughts on the way to Tortuga. ::one-shot::

It was still several hours before they would reach Tortuga. Will had never been to the town that was so famous for its lawlessness. He couldn't decide if he was excited, nervous or just intrigued about going to the pirate town. 'I guess that I should be excited, I am a pirate's son after all.' Will thought ruefully.

The young man didn't want to dwell on the fact that his father was a pirate; he wasn't ready to 'square' with it yet. 'You're a pirate too now, remember? You broke a man out of jail, which was bad enough, then to make matters worse you stole one of the ships of the royal fleet.'

William Turner truly regretted breaking the law; though at the time he had thought it the only way to save the Governor's daughter. 'Even if you do save Elizabeth you will not be able to return to your old life.' Finishing that sorrowful thought Will began to search for something to do that he could occupy his mind with.

Will looked over at the man that was steering the ship. The man, who called himself Captain Jack Sparrow, truly was a resourceful person. 'I would never have thought to use an upside-down boat as a way to sneak up on a ship.' Then as an after thought 'I would never have wanted to sneak up on a ship, but that is beside the point.'

'Jack also used my misfortune of stepping into that lobster trap to his... no' Will thought 'our, advantage. We would have had a hard time climbing onto the HMS Dauntless without being seen if we hadn't had it with us.'

'Jack's whole idea of using the Dauntless as a decoy to steal the Interceptor was brilliant' Will had to admit, even though he didn't like the thought of stealing. Although he would never tell Jack that he felt this way.

"Jack?" Will broke the silence. "Yes?" The Captain responded. "Why are we going to Tortuga? Didn't you say that the Black Pearl sailed from la islla da muerta?" Will asked, not completely trusting the older man. "Yur right, boy, I did. We're going to Tortuga because we need a crew." Came Jack's somewhat amused reply.

'Oh, right we need a crew.' Will felt like hitting his head for his stupidity. In order to make Jack forget his foolish question Will changed the subject. "So... how long 'till we can rescue Elizabeth?" This time Jack spoke with no amusement in his voice "It'll take a few days. We need to get a crew then we need to sail to Islla de muerta, then we have to figure out how to get her from Barbossa."

Will jumped to a standing position "In a few days Elizabeth could be dead!" Will feared that they would be too late "It's the best I can do, mate. Take it or leave it." When Jack saw that Will still wasn't satisfied he continued "I promise that Elizabeth will be safe by the end of this." Will said nothing, but Jack thought that he looked satisfied so Jack turned back to steering the ship.

'I'd like to believe you Jack...but how can I trust a pirate?'
