A Misunderstanding Understood

By HPFangirl71

The growing crowd closed in on them in the halls. Hugo Weasley hadn't meant to make a spectacle of himself, it wasn't his way. He'd only meant to confront Malfoy so they could come to a mutual understanding. Now here he stood amidst the curious onlookers with his wand pointing at his enemy's chest.

All eyes were anxiously waiting… Scorpius stood defiantly with his own wand poised for delivery. He and the Weasley brat weren't actually quarreling, they'd only had a misunderstanding.

The misunderstanding was mostly because of who their families were. The Weasleys had helped Harry Potter in defeating the Dark Lord. The Malfoys were the exact opposite, with a history of Death Eaters. This general understanding around Hogwarts had made Scorpius unwelcome in most circles. It also made him the enemy of the many Weasleys in attendance.

Scorpius no longer welcomed the animosity between the two families. Not since he and Rose Weasley had been doing Prefect patrols together. He had gotten to know the beautiful girl with the fiery mass of curls. In the time spent he'd become entirely smitten by her. It was his understanding that she too felt the same for him. At least he hoped so.

"Take it back Malfoy! Take back what you said to Zabini!" Hugo yelled at the tall blonde boy. Scorpius was embarrassed that Hugo had overheard he and Damien talking about his sister Rose. He'd obviously misunderstood.

"Look Weasley, you don't understand…" he began but was interrupted by Hugo. "I understood completely Malfoy and my sister will not be toyed with by you!" Malfoy was about to explain when Rose herself suddenly appeared. She questioned her brother and demanded to know what he was doing. "I was defending your honor Rosie! He was talking about kissing you and I know its not true!"

"He was telling the truth…" she confessed. Hugo looked shocked and there was a murmur of gossip through the crowd. Hugo apologized to Scorpius but he replied, "No apology needed, just a little misunderstanding…. Understand though that I love your sister." Rose smiled with embarrassed delight.
