Scene: Lorelai and Rory are sitting at the dinner table talking at home. A police car pulls up outside their house. Two police officers step out of the car, one with an arrest warrant for Lorelai. She is dressed in a blue t-shirt, with a grey long-sleeved top underneath, jeans and black shoes. The doorbell rings and Lorelai goes to answer it.
Lorelai: (opening the door and seeing the cops) Ooh...what did I do?
(She smiles.)
Cop 1: Are you Lorelai Gilmore?
Lorelai: That's me.
Cop 1: Mrs Gilmore, please turn...
Lorelai: Ooh, no. Not mrs. Miss Gilmore.
(Cop 1 looks at her oddly for a second.)
Cop 1: Alright, Miss Gilmore, please turn around and place your hands behind your back. You're under arrest for tax evasion.
(Cop 1 pulls out his handcuffs.)
Lorelai: (frowns and smiles at the same time) Excuse me?
(Cop 1 starts to grab her arm.)
Lorelai: Uh..it's okay, it's okay. I can do this myself.
(She smiles again then turns around placing her hands behind her back.)
Lorelai: (to herself jokingly) Spread 'em, Lorelai.
(She spreads her legs as the cop starts to handcuff her, still smiling.)
Lorelai: (as the cuffs snap on over her sleeves) Yowzer! That's...pretty tight.
(Rory walks in and sees her mother getting handcuffed.)
Rory: (in shock) What the hell is going on? Mom?
Lorelai: (with her legs apart, getting searched by Cop 2) Tax evasion, apparently.
Rory: Is this true?
Lorelai: I guess so. After everything that's been going on, I guess I kinda forgot.
Cop 2: (having finished searching Lorelai) Let's go, ma'am.
Rory: Mom, how can you be so upbeat about getting arrested?
Lorelai: (being led out the door) Well, I've never been arrested before. You and Mom have so I guess this day was going to come sooner or later.
Cop 1 reads her her rights and places her in the police car. Rory watches, stunned and confused.
