Charity Point of View
"I can't believe we find out if we're having a boy or a girl today, I'm so excited" Jayce whispers.
"I know" I smile as I put away all of my folders and my classes books in the box and grab my bag.
"Do you enjoy this new school?" He asks as he picks up the box and I nod and smile.
"Yes, I mean I do miss being in a public school, but it's lovely" I smile.
"Right, let's drop these of in the car then we'll get to the hospital and see our little watermelon" he grins and I nod and kiss him and I lock my office.
"If you give me half an hour tonight babe, I need to Mark the quizzes I got the girls to do today but then you have me all to yourself" I say.
"Of course" he smiles and I open the door and see one of the students trying to call me.
"Mrs Sloane" She says.
"Yes?" I ask.
"Can I have an extra day to do my homework, just because I don't want to rush" she says.
"No, you've had 3 nights and it's not that big, Sophia. I want it on my desk tomorrow before registration" I say firmly.
"Right" She says sadly and nods and Jayce raises an eyebrow and I shake my head.
"Don't even go there" I smirk.
"Not saying anything, I've parked my car in the visitors car park" he says and I nod and we all through the staff area to the car park and I unlock the car and open the boot of the car and put my bag and folder in and he plonks the box in the boot to.
"I think your using me, Mrs Sloane" He smirks.
"How so Mr Sloane?" I smirk back.
"Well, I'm always being called by you to help you with boxes and that" he smirks.
"Well, I am 18 weeks pregnant" I smirk back.
"Hmmm, true, I can forgive you since baby needs mummy to be looking after him or her" he smirks and I peck his lips and get in the passenger seat of the car and put my seatbelt on and Jayce also gets in .
"So, how many lessons did you teach today?" He asks.
"I had one of my English lit classes, one of my drama classes and three of my child development classes, all learning the same thing so the same lesson three times, how was your day?" I ask.
"It was good, just going through the motions and statistics" he smiles and I nod.
"Good, I rang Adam and Elena on my lunch" I say.
"Yeah? Everything ok?" He asks.
"Yeah, Adam wants to know what the gender of the baby is" I smile.
"He wants to know whether he's having a niece or nephew" he asks.
"Yeah" I smile.
"That's cute, he's good with kids isn't he?" Jayce asks and I smile.
"Of course, almost as desperate as we are to know" I smile and Jayce puts a hand on my thigh as he drives.
"What are we going to do this weekend after we've found out?" He asks.
"Thought we could get some paints and start the nursery, I know we have a bath and a few of the essential things that don't need to influenced by the baby's gender but I'm thinking maybe get a cot and a Moses basket and start getting some clothes" I say.
"That sounds perfect, Mrs Sloane" He says and we arrive at the hospital and he parks up and pays for the parking.
"We're going to find out if you're a little prince or princess today, blueberry" I whisper as I rub my stomach as I feel the kicks of the baby, and I smile as Jayce walks over and I get out and grab my bag and we go into the hospital and to the ante-natal clinic.
"You didn't say we were seeing, Dr Watson? Is everything ok?" Jayce asks
"Yeah, he's doing our scan and doing my blood pressure and just checking me out" I explain.
"But everything is ok?" Jayce asks gently as he entwines are fingers.
"Yes, of course baby, I'd tell you if something was wrong" I smile and we wait.
"I can't wait, the excitement is way too much" Jayce says and a dark haired man walks through and smiles over.
"Charity Sloane" The man says and I stand up with Jayce and he leads us through to the examination room.
"Mr Sloane, Charity, it's so lovely to see you, how are things?" The Doctor smiles.
"Everything's been fine, I've been tired but I'm putting that down to being a secondary school teacher and nothing else and whenever I do get tired, I go for a break and I'm still taking my stuff for the baby" I say.
"Ok, that's great Charity, we'll do the boring stuff, the BP and that then we'll get this scan done, just take a seat" he smiles grabbing some stuff and he does all the basic stuff.
"Is she ok?" Jayce asks.
"Yes, Mr Sloane, in-fact your wife is in brilliant health, but I would say avoid stress, especially if you're a teacher, I've got 3 kids and they're bad enough, can't imagine what it's like teaching them" the doctor says as he gives me privacy to get ready for the scan and I do that and then lay down.
"I'm ready" I shout and Jayce literally jumps to my side.
"Don't worry about Charity's stress, she's a feisty, scary teacher, I'll keep her in check" Jayce beams and the Doctor laughs.
"You don't take any rubbish from students?" The doctor asks as he gets the gel.
"Nope, I spend a lot of time making sure the lessons are interesting, fun and educational I don't allow students to take advantage of that" I say and gasp as he puts the gel on.
"Sorry, I thought the fact that you were telling me about your job, it would distract you" he chuckles and starts doing what his job.
"Well, measurements are perfect for your stage of pregnancy, I don't see anything wrong" the doctor says.
"So we have a healthy baby?" Jayce asks.
"Yes, you do. Would you like to know your baby's gender?" The doctor asks
"Yes please" I say.
"From what I can see your going to have a healthy baby girl, congratulations" the doctor says.
"Oh my goodness, that's amazing" Jayce says and I smile and let a tear fall.
"We're going to have a baby girl babe" I say.
"I know darling" He says and we hear the baby's heartbeat and I feel a flood of emotion grab my body and I cry.
"Charity, the baby's ok" Jayce comments.
"What?! I know babe, I'm just so happy" I say and he kisses me.
"Oh, I thought you were" He starts.
"We're going to have a baby girl" I whisper and he kisses me.
"We're having a baby girl, Mrs Sloane" He smiles and we finish up at the hospital and I feel so much pride.
"I'm going to text the gang" I say and Jayce nods as he drives us back home.
Going on the family group chat I take a photo of the scan picture and put as a comment "Just thought you should all know that baby Sloane is going to be a little girl x" and I send it and see Jess and Iris have already seen it as has Adam and see my brothers really.
"Yes! Baby girl! Baby niece! So excited and happy for you sis! I love you xxx" and I smile as I read it.
"Your grinning, why?" Jayce asks and I scoff playfully and hit his arm playfully.
"I'm a happy person Jayce, you shouldn't question that. I've just told the gang and Adam said he's so happy for us" I explain.
"That's sweet, goodness I can't wait for our little bundle of joy to be born" he grins and I hold his hand which is in his lap.
"Babe, we have to wait 22 weeks as the baby isn't ready to be born yet but you can be sad and count down the seconds if you want" I smirk.
"God Charity, you make me sound so sad" he laughs.
"I'm sorry" I smile and we get home and make dinner together, discussing ideas we have for the babies nursery.
