AN: Ok so while Cassie and I were taking a walk the other night and we were discussing the end of The Last Word and we thought it would be funny if Emily had stayed there for four days. So this is a small little oneshot for his reaction. So bear with me here. This will be kinda AU. Aaron and Haley are already divorced by this point in time.

Spoilers: 2x07- The Last Word

Aaron entered his office, the soft glow from his desk lamp illuminating the otherwise dark office. He opened the door and looked over at the person sitting on his couch. She was just as beautiful as he remembered her from working with her mother. Her dark hair was pulled up into a messy ponytail, short tendrils framed her face.

"Please tell me you haven't been there for the last four days" Aaron said, his shoulders slumping in defeat. Emily stood up and straightened her shirt and smoothed out the creases in her pants.

"Yes actually I have. Section Chief Strauss said she didn't know when you would be back so she offered to let me stay here and wait" Emily responded. Aaron dropped his bag. He couldn't believe Strauss. It was his office shouldn't he get a say? He groaned as he turned to face her. "Look I don't know how you think I got put in this unit, but I belong here."

"Did your parents pull strings with the Director? Or Strauss perhaps?" he said dropping his bag behind his desk. He looked at her and tried not to be overcome by a strong urge to kiss her. The night before she left for college left him wanting more. They had had the most amazing sex of their lives and now they had to pretend nothing had ever happened.

"No, my parents as much power as they have, did not pull strings for me to get here. I got here on my own. I have done my share of grunt work for the Bureau. I can do this job" she argued. She didn't like that he was implying that her parents got her to where she was today. After the last night before she went off to college, Emily learned that she didn't need her parents. Aaron had showed her that. She looked at him longing for his touch, for his love.

"Fine" he huffed, dropping into his chair. Emily sighed and slammed a folder down on his desk. He flipped it open and realized it was one of the cases he still needed to do a consult on. On a piece of yellow legal paper was a profile. She had figured out the guys profile while they were gone.

"This guy is smart if he can get educated women to go with him even after all the others have disappeared. Now I know it's your job, but I can do this too. I'm ready for this Aaron" Emily said. Aaron's breath caught in his throat as she called him by his first name. He hadn't been called Aaron since Haley left with Jack.

"You have one week to prove that you belong here Emily or I'm going to have to reassign you" he replied. Emily ignored her body as she turned towards the couch. She grabbed her box and hoisted it under one arm and turned toward the door. "Emily?" he called out after her. Emily turned, one hand still on the door. "It's nice seeing you again." Emily smiled.

"You too Aaron" she said before leaving the office. Aaron watched her jog down the steps and look around. He was going to like having her fun, carefree attitude around again. He watched the smile that broke out on her face when JJ introduced herself. Maybe now there could be something more between them. Maybe now he could have the happily ever after they both deserved.
