It was 12am at Hogwarts. Everyone seemed to be fast asleep. Everyone, other than Remus Lupin. Sat in the common room alone, reading his favourite book. The night felt rough. Rain hammering down outside their windows and things didn't feel right. He sat there shifting positions every now and again trying to push his thoughts out of his head. That was until he saw a figure by the wall walking towards him. The figure had messy hair and a black hoodie. Remus smiled immediately identifying the figure as none other than Sirius Black
"Long night?" Moony asked
"You should get some sleep" Padfoot replied, dodging the question
Remus raised an eyebrow. His voice seemed weaker than usual. Usually Sirius held himself high. Had asarcastic remarks to everything. But today he seemed worn out. Just as Remus was. He put down his book and walked up to Sirius studying him
"Careful. Anyone passing might think you're checking me out" Black smiled slightly
"You're not a library book Padfoot"
They smiled in each others presence. In Sirius' pocket there was another letter from his parents. Each one worse than the last. And Remus had just suffered through a full moon the night before. But somehow, they made each other feel warm and welcome.
Sirius sat down on the chair Remus was just in and opened hia arms with a slight grin. Remus rolled his eyes and curled up in his lap, grabbing the book and reading it out loud. It was nights like these that both of them felt safe. When Sirius kisses Remus' head as the warewolf is half asleep. When Remus lays his head on Sirius' chest and for once doesn't whimper from nightmares. When Sirius knows his true family is here. With Remus. And the other two idiots watching them silently named James and Peter. They feel safer here.
It's nights like these, where they fall more in love. Where the other two finally come out of hiding when Remus is asleep. They lay on the chairs close to the two. Smile at Sirus and say "This is home"
