SHAKEN

AUTHOR'S NOTE/DISCLAIMER

I just finished watching this series on tv . com and got hit with an idea for a one-shot. Belongs to NBC and Dario Scardapane. Takes place after "Crossed Wires". This refers to suicide, so if this is something that bothers you, please press the back button.

Glenn Morrison walked back into the command center, Nancy Carnahan close behind him.

"Glenn, will you please talk to me?" the woman asked.

"I'm fine, Nancy! I just need a few seconds!" he shouted.

"No you're not, fine! You lost it back there!" she exclaimed as the others came up.

"Whoa. What happened? Did he faint again?" Tyler Briggs asked, causing his partner Cameron Boone, Marisa Benez, and Reuben "Rabbit" Palchuck to laugh.

"I'm fine! Can I please just have a few measly seconds to myself!" he shouted.

"Hey!" Everyone turned to see their commander, David Basra glaring at them. "What is going on here?" he demanded.

"Not a thing," Glenn replied and went to another room to wash his hands as Nancy started to tell the other man what had happened on the call. At the sink, the newest member of the Trauma team began to wash his hands as the previous events rushed through his head.

Nancy and Glenn walked into the residence and Glenn froze when he saw the scene: a boy was lying on his bed, blood pooling from his wrist. Nancy immediately went to take care of the boy, but Glenn could only stare. He couldn't believe this was happening.

With a groan, he pushed the image away and continued to wash his hands. However, the image wouldn't go away and before he knew what was happening, his eyes brimmed with tears.

"So you want to tell me what happened back there?" The man jumped at the sudden sound of his partner's voice.

"I'm sorry. I know I froze." He then swiped at his eyes, trying to get rid of the tears to no avail.

"Hey, what happened?" Nancy asked softly, her voice filled with concern. I've never seen him like this, she thought to herself. This wasn't like the time he had fainted on a call because of his inexperience. Something was bothering him.

"The kid, the suicide. It just-it brought something back," Glenn answered.

"Someone close to you?"

"My best friend. I uh-I walked in on him right after he had-"

"Oh, my-" Nancy put a hand over her mouth in shock. No wonder Glenn had frozen. Walking in on that kid had probably brought everything back.

"I don't-I still don't know why he…" Glenn choked back a sob and Nancy wrapped him in a hug.

"I'm right here. I'm right here. I've got you. I've got you." Glenn continued to cry and Nancy just held him, vowing to herself that this would be something that she'd take to the grave and wouldn't let anyone-especially Rabbit-mention it to him.

THE END
