Just Dance
This was love. That is what Tonks had realized that night. It was not simple, girlish fluff like it had first seemed. She watched him dance by himself, in time with the music he so loved. She used to think his music was that of an old man's. Not that unusual, just different. But now she saw how childlike she had been. This music was extraordinary. It notes soulful and rich, moved through her like waves on a beach.
She moved from the doorway and sat on the couch to watch him. "Come here my lady," he said seductively. She took the hand he had afford and glided into his arms. "You are a very brave man, Remus Lupin, for offering to dance with such a klutz."
"My dear Tonks don't let your past record keep you from a dance with this old man."
"Old but unusually graceful."
"Oh I am graceful in other ways." She leaned up against him listening to his heartbeat. "Is that an offer?" They began to dance, slowly at first but they soon began to speed up. "Only if you want it to be."
"Well let's just think of this as foreplay."
"Hmm, if this is foreplay maybe we should try another song." He began to move but she stopped him. "No, I like this song."
And with that Tonks promptly tripped over Crookshanks and fell on her butt. "Stupid cat!" Crookshanks ran off toward the kitchen. "I think," Remus began, "that we should move to the bedroom before we have another incident." Lupin began to climb the stairs but Tonks got up to stop him. "If we're moving to another floor, we should turn up the music." "Oh, I see you like to make love in time, but to avoid waking up the rest of our house guests maybe we should just stay down here." And with that he kissed her to prevent any further disagreements. When they broke off to catch their breaths Tonks whispered, "I love this music."
