Prompt #151 – Weave a poem that contains all of these lines (in no particular order): "I tie the ribbon in a foolish way," "the delicious fragility of this travesty," and "where we still laugh and wish."
I stare into the emeralds
That tell tales of countries past
When pirates sailed the ocean blue
And fairytale love lasts
Still, I see no trace,
Of regret in this, humble, yet regal monarchy
But to find myself lost in his eyes
Reminds myself of the delicious fragility of this travesty.
I see wisps of Shakespeare, of great works of eras before
I see faint traces of great mythology and lore
I find myself drawn, inexplicably, towards this nation
As I ask the heavens above how love comes into creation
And so I write a quick note, to meet me by the bay
As I wrap his present, I tie the ribbon in a foolish way
Reminiscing of days, of innocence long lost,
For this sinful union to work, there must be a cost
And yet as I think and think, I can find no such thing
To prevent myself from presenting him with that lovely, shining ring
And so I say my wedding vows
Praying, hoping, that this will be allowed
And each and every moment together, we always do cherish
For when the future looks bleak and our hearts grim
We still have our sanctuary here,
"A place where we still laugh and wish."
