I do not own Danny Phantom
It was freezing outside; the wind whipped around like crashing waves against Danny and practically froze him to death. He wrapped his arms around himself and didn't dare change into his human form; if he did, he feared he'd be even colder, impossible as it seemed. He tried his best to fly earlier, but his last fight was so brutal he barely had enough energy to stand. So, with the little strength he had left, he walked home from the park. It usually didn't take very long to get home from there, but with this horrid bitterness, it seemed like it would take days to get home. The cold and hopelessness sent his mind to the lesson he had earlier in the week about the Donner Party in American history. He regretted the thought process immediately. Anything but the Donner Party! For pity sake why the Donner Party! He grumbled and kicked at the snow in front of him. Worst history lesson ever. He thought to himself bitterly. At least he had somewhat of an idea on what to write about for the paper due when he got back from Christmas Break or Hanukkah Break, as Sam liked to call it just for giggles. He shook his head to rid it of the nightmarish images the letters and journals from that horribly fated group of people etched into his mind's eye. Okay Fenton, think of something else; anything else. His mind went to Frost Bite, well that was counterproductive! Try again! He growled to himself. His mind went to Jazz, then his mom and dad, and then Sam and Tucker. Heat bloomed in his chest and he smiled despite the snow hitting his back at mock speed. He opened his eyes and there was his home, looking warmer than it had in days. He rushed up the stairs, phased through the door and threw himself on the couch in the living room. The room was like an oven and Danny was the happiest loaf of bread in existence.
He was so exhausted that he was completely oblivious to the footsteps gliding down the stairs. Maddie smiled as she saw her son blissfully dreaming on the couch, Jack and Jazz were right behind her. Jazz tried her best not to giggle at her little brother's sprawled out position, his right arm and leg dangling off the couch. Jack walked up and moved his son into a less precarious position careful not to disturb him. Danny replied with a groan and fidgeted slightly, then, gently, drifted off into a deep sleep causing to bright rings of light to appear, temporarily blinding his family. After their eyes readjusted the rings revealed a rosy cheeked boy with raven colored hair. Maddie grabbed the blanket that draped off the back of the couch and covered her son. She kissed him on the forehead and whispered how proud she was to him. Jack ruffled his boy's hair with a smile and Jazz mimicked her mother. Danny had a slight smile on his face and Maddie and Jazz went back upstairs to bed. Jack sat on the chair next to his slumbering son and slept there. Pride was so ominous it wouldn't surprise anyone if that house was glowing.
