kilodalton asked: Ten/rose, going to school together, school play
The school play required commitment, sweat, blood and tears. Which all seem completely terrifying. He was roped into helping by a certain pink and yellow girl. Which wasn't really a surprise because he would follow Rose Tyler any where. So that's how he found himself at the auditions for A Midsummer Night's Dream. This could be fun, especially if he had scenes with Rose.
Rose was talking amicably with Donna, trying to convince her to join in too. He heard Donna say how certain blondes may work on certain skinny blokes with ridiculous hair, but she wasn't shifting her, thank you very much. John smirked, knowing rose could convince the whole school to help if she wanted to.
"You need to kiss that girl before somebody else does," John jumped a bit as a strong arm was wrapped around his shoulder. Jack had sneaked up to him and most likely saw him looking at Rose. It seemed Jack always did that these days.
"We're not like that," he said, shoving Jacks arm from his shoulder.
"You should be," Jack smirked at him "C'mon Rose likes you just as much as you like her, she wouldn't spend almost all her time with you if she didn't."
"Yeah, sure." Jack was about to retaliate but was interrupted.
"All students auditioning please take a seat and wait to be called on." John saw Rose walking back to sit with him. Jack threw him a smug smile. He ran up to Rose before she got to them. He pulled her to the side, whispering something in her ear. He was looking straight at him. This was terrible, Jack was probably going to ruin everything. Rose smiled at Jack and John saw her mouthing the word thanks.
That seemed to be a good sign, so he allowed himself to relax. Rose walked towards him tongue between her teeth, and a glint in her eye. He swallowed nervously.
"Hello," Rose was grinning up at him.
"Hello," he managed to squeak out.
Rose grabbed out, and took his hand in hers, and led him to the seats. Sitting down, Rose still hadn't let go of his hand. It was new for them. But John thought it was nice. He was still worried about what Jack had told Rose.
Before he knew it his name was being called. Rose leaned in, he thought to tell him good luck, but she kissed him instead. It was more of a promise of later better kisses to come.
He didn't have time to really react to the kiss before she pulled back.
"Good luck," she whispered to him.
He would need it, he was too distracted to focus on the lines.
