Necklace
It dangled loosely from her neck, long and silver with a small crystal pendant on the end. She had bent over the microscope in the Pathology lab, squinting as he stared.
He couldn't take his eyes off it.
It was almost hypnotising, watching the pendant sway back and forth against her neck. It wasn't the only reason he was staring.
"You've never worn that before."
Cameron looked up, startled by House's sudden statement. "Worn what?" She asked, confused.
House pointed to her neck. "The necklace. You've never worn it. You rarely wear necklaces."
Cameron touched the chain. "Oh. It was a present."
"A present from whom?" House asked, his forehead creasing.
Cameron stared at him before smirking. "Someone," She replied, turning back around.
Putting her glasses on, Cameron picked up her pen and was about to continue her work when she felt a warm breath on her neck. She knew who it was.
"Someone's got good taste," He said softly, running his fingers over the silver chain.
Cameron's breath caught in her throat as she felt his fingers caress her skin. Before she could utter a word, he lifted his fingers off and limped towards the door.
"House," Cameron turned around and faced him.
House stood still, moving his head to the side as an invitation for her to continue.
"It's from my mom," Cameron said softly.
Cameron was sure she was an inch of a smile cross his mouth, but he was out the door before she could properly look.
Maybe she'd wear necklaces more often.
