The wonder of the world is gone, and old for sure All the wonder that I want I found in her As a hole becomes another strike to burn An old flame returns

Bobby sat rigid, facing forward, staring at the television. He was afraid to move. It didn't matter that this was his apartment and that this was the place he should be most comfortable. He always got that way around Alex.

He should be used to her company. He should be used to the casual way she leaned against him when they sat together on the couch. And he should be used to the way she scratched the top of his head when he had a headache. But he wasn't.

In fact, he was almost nervous.

Nervous to be alone with his best friend in his own home? It was ridiculous. Often he found himself wishing she would just leave.

Every intuition fails to find its way One more table turned around I'm back again Finding I'm a lost and found when she's not around

But he didn't want her to leave. No, she couldn't leave. Because not only would he be lost, but then he'd have to worry about her. Is she safe? Is she alone? Is she thinking of someone else?

When she's not around I feel it coming down

He couldn't send her away. She was his other half. Alex made him the brilliant detective that he was, made him a better man. Without her, he was nothing. Without her, he meant nothing to anyone, and vice versa. She mad him whole.

When she's not around I feel it coming down

He couldn't let her leave because she might meet someone, someone better for her, and never know what he'd been trying to say to her for so long, what he'd tried so many times to say to her.

"I'm not going anywhere, Bobby."

She was responding to his subconscious movement to wrap his arm around her. She was staring at him, wide eyed, worried, because he was ….was he whimpering? Yes, he was. Only when Alex reached up to touch his face did he realize that that pathetic and small sound was coming from his own throat.

You could be my chemical now

It took a moment for him to respond, because he really wasn't sure that it was really happening. When finally he realized that Alex's soft lips were touching his, an alarm went off in his head.

She knew. She knew he was in love with her. She had to. And this was his chance to do something about it.

Give me what I could never ask for Connect me and you could be my chemical now

His head couldn't believe what his body was doing. His heart couldn't believe the words she was saying, and even his own mouth was shocked by his replies.

"Love you Bobby…always have."

Give me the drug you know I'm after Connect me and you could be my chemical

Her skin was softer than he'd ever imagined, and feeling her body under his, hearing her whispers and soft request of "Make love to me, Bobby." He felt he had nothing more to life for. For no single moment could make him happier.

You could be my chemical

Alex, his Alex, was all he'd ever needed.

You could be my chemical
