Disclaimer: I love them, but don't own them.
Word Count: 307
Note: I'm only at the end of season six, so please forgive me if an exchange like this does happen at a later date.
Sam wanted to scream at him.
You can't trust demons.
He wanted to shout at Castiel until his voice was raw and he was blue in the face and he wanted to scream until the heavens burst open and Crowley was dead and this angel in front of him understood that there was no such thing as a trustworthy demon. There never had been, and there never will.
But he didn't. He didn't because he already knew how that particular conversation would go.
You can't trust demons, Cas.
Are you really the one to be telling me that, Sam?
Don't you think that I would-
You were the one who trusted Ruby, weren't you? Didn't you trust her and drink her blood and release Lucifer from his cage?
And then Sam wouldn't be able to talk through the knife that had appeared in his throat, wouldn't be able to see past the fact that the horrible things he had done were once again brought in front of his face. He would feel the knife twist, and some sort of half-hearted justification would come out, not the complete acceptance of his actions that he had planned for, and certainly not the plea for Cas to stop.
Sam knew better than anybody that the only thing that demons did was lie. He knew that every word was planned; every step they made was designed to make you twist yourself to fit with the lies. He knew that they told you one thing, while they meant another, and then acted on another thought entirely. He knew what it felt like to feel so strongly that what you were doing was right, that it made any different course of action seem suddenly wrong.
Learn from my mistakes! He wanted to scream. Don't do that to yourself.
Don't turn out like me.
A/N: Really short, I know, and kind of lousy for my first contribution to this fandom. But I just watched The Man Who Would Be King last night, and I wanted an exchange like this between Sam and Cas, but it didn't happen, and then all of a sudden I had this reason why and I wanted to do something with it. Thanks for taking the time to read! Hope you enjoyed!
