Five Times Dean Winchester is Five Years Old

I

"Hey, Sam?"

"Yeah?"

"Nothing... Hey Sam?"

"What?"

"Nothing... Hey Sam?"

"Jesus, Dean, what is it?"

"Just wondering how long before you got annoyed,"

"Do you want to drive? Is that it?"

"No really, just wanted to see how long before you got annoyed,"

"Christ, you freakin' five-year-old."

II

"Dean Winchester!"

"Yes Miss?"

"Is this your doing?"

"Me? No, it wasn't me, Miss,"

"Who else could it have been, Dean? This is the fourth time this week!"

"Well, yeah, maybe those other times, but I swear, that chalk moved by itself!"

"Quiet the rest of you, don't encourage him! Dean, this is the kind of behaviour I'd expect from a five-year-old,"

"A pretty smart five-year-old if you ask me,"

"No one did, Dean. Principal's office. Now."

"Yes Miss."

III

"Dean, look at me. I need to be able to trust you with this. Can I trust you?"

"Yes sir,"

"Good. Now, you know where everything is?"

"Yes sir,"

"You remember everything we've been through?"

"Yes sir,"

"You got the phone numbers?"

"Yes sir,"

"Right, you watch out for Sammy, ok?"

"Yes sir... Dad?"

"What is it?"

"Do you have to go?"

"Dean, I already told you, I can't afford to have someone else watch you. I can't trust anyone else to watch you. You have to take some responsibility, you're not five anymore,"

"Yes sir."

IV

"Deeaaan!"

"No, Sammy, I'm playing with it!"

"Dean! Mine!"

"No, Sammy, it's mine!"

"Mine, Dean! Mine!"

"Sammy, let go! I'm playing!"

"Boys, keep it down in there!"

"But Dad! Sammy won't let go!"

"Deeaaan! Mine! Give!"

"No, Sammy, get off!"

"Deeeaaaaan!"

"Jesus Christ, Dean, just give him the damn thing!"

"But Dad, it's mine!"

"What are you, five? Let your brother have it!"

"Mine!"

"Yeah Sammy, yours."

V

"Ssshh, Sammy, ssshh, don't cry, Daddy won't be gone long. Do you know why? 'Cause it's my birthday today, I'm a whole five years old! That's really old compared to you but don't worry, you'll be big like me one day. Mommy used to say you'd grow up really fast and be big before I knew it, but you're not big yet.

"Ssshh, ssshh, that's right, don't cry. Do you know what happens on birthdays? People give you presents and you get a cake with candles and you have to blow them out, and then everyone sings. Mommy had a really pretty voice, she used to sing the best, but don't worry, I'll sing for you on your birthday.

"Where do you think Dad's gone? I think he's gone to get me a present. I bet it'll be a good one, Dad always gives the best presents. I didn't tell him what I wanted this year but I bet he knows anyway. Do you know what else you get on your birthday? You get a wish, and Mommy always said if you wish hard enough it'll come true and this year I'm going to wish harder than ever. I'm going to wish the hardest anyone's ever wished!

"Don't worry, Sammy, I'm going to make everything better."

The End.

Hope you enjoyed!
