Sophie sat on "their bench" eating a chippy while on her break from the shop. She loved this old bench. Her and Sian had spent hours here when they were friends. Giggling, joking, talking about anything and everything-Sophie was sure that this is where she had fallen in love with her. Then later after they'd gotten together they would sit here and snuggle under the stars until it was too cold out. Now Sophie just sat here alone.

She looked across the street and saw young Faye Windass walking towards her. With her school bag and Weatherfield High blazer she must of just gotten out of school. "Hiya" Sophie said smiling towards the barely teenage girl. "Hi Sophie!" she said surprised that the older girl had regarded her. "Want to sit down and share some chippy with me?" Sophie offered. "Sure" Faye answered sitting down and snagging an offered chip.

"Faye, I'm really sorry about how I treated you that day in the shop. I should have been more understanding" Sophie said sincerely. Sophie had been meaning to apologize for her bitchy behavior that day. Mary may be daft sometimes, but she had been spot on with her compassion. Sophie had let herself down that day. "It's okay. I should have told the truth. I just didn't want to hurt my dad" Faye shrugged. "Well either way, since my mum is seeing your dad, I think that we should be friends," Sophie offered. "Okay" Faye agreed.

"Good…so which boy have you got your eye on eh?" Sophie jabbed good-naturedly. "What about Craig Tinker? He seems keen on you" Sophie continued laughing. "Ew! Never!" Faye's face scrunched up disgustedly. "Well then who?" Sophie kept teasing the girl. Faye leaned in conspiratorially, her voice low. "Well there's someone I have a crush on but you can't ever tell anyone," Faye whispered. "I promise I won't. Who?" Sophie solemnly swore. "Ryan Connor. He is so fit" Faye giggled. Sophie rolled her eyes. Some things never changed. "Isn't he a little old for you?" Sophie asked. She was desperately trying to hold the contempt in her voice in check. "Yeah but I'll wait" Faye said with the innocence of youth.

"So do you have a boyfriend Sophie?" Faye asked. "Nope" Sophie asked looking towards the floor. She wasn't sure how to have this conversation with a 13 year old. "Why not?" Faye asked popping another chip into her mouth. "Nobody around here is my type is all" Sophie evaded. "Are you a dyke?" Faye asked sincerely. Sophie's head whipped up so fast that she may have caused herself neck pain. "Who told you that?" Sophie asked quickly trying to keep her anger from rising. Faye was just a kid after all. "Well Amy Barlow said…" Faye trailed off. "Well I should have known" Sophie said contemptuously. That Amy Barlow going to turn out just like her awful mother Sophie thought.

Sophie looked Faye directly in the eyes. "Faye, you shouldn't use that word. Not ever. It's not polite" Sophie said seriously. "I'm sorry Sophie" Faye apologized as she looked toward her shoes. "Look Faye, do you watch Glee on telly?" Sophie asked. Faye nodded that she does. "Well I'm like Santana but I live in Weatherfield. Do you see?" Sophie tried to explain. Faye's eyes perked up, as she understood. "So do you have your own Brittany?" Faye asked light heartedly. Sophie sighed. "I did. But I lost her" Sophie said sadly. "Well I'm sure you'll find someone else" Faye cheered. "We'll see eh?" Sophie said as she stood up from the bench. "Do you want the rest of my chips? I have to get back or Dev will have my head" Sophie offered. "Sure, I better get home though or Anna will be on my back" Faye sighed. "Yeah you'd better. I wouldn't want your mum mad at me" Sophie winked. Sophie headed back toward the shop as Faye finished off her chips.
