A/N: Hey everyone! This is my first FanFiction ever, so I apologize if it's not very good. I know this has probably been done a thousand times, but I decided to do it anyways.
I do not own Doctor Who
A year had gone by, and Rose Tyler still couldn't get used to her 'normal' life.
She had a good job, working for Torchwood. Of course, it was nothing compared to the time she had spent with the Doctor.
Oh, the Doctor.
Rose let out a sigh, letting her mind wander yet again to him. She knew that remembering the Doctor just made her sink even more into the depression that had been consuming her ever since he left. She thought back to that last moment. He had said her name, his eyes staring straight into hers, and then he had simply vanished, leaving that final thought unsaid.
As much as she tried to stop her thoughts from traveling down the path they had started on, she couldn't help it. Once she had one thought about the Doctor, it was if every memory of him jumped out at her and demanded her attention.
She thought of the first time she met him, how he grabbed her wrist and they ran down the hall, trying to escape from the living plastic mannequins. Even though she had never met this man before, she trusted him. She listened to him.
She thought of the things he had shown her. She had seen the Earth die, but had also seen it in its most prosperous times. She had seen a spaceship land in the Thames, right in the middle of London. They had defeated the Daleks, multiple times. He had given her the chance to meet her father. She had seen the joy on his face as the nanogenes undid what they had done to all of those people. She had seen him frightened, when he realized that she had looked into the time vortex and that it was going to kill her.
She remembered how he had kissed her, drawing the vortex into himself so that she could live.
The feelings of guilt, pain, and loss filled her head as she remembered his regeneration. If she had not looked into the heart of the TARDIS, he would not have had to regenerate. Then again, if she hadn't looked into the heart of the TARDIS, she never would have seen him again. He would have been dead, and she would have been stuck in London forever.
She remembered feeling lost as the newly regenerated Doctor lay sleeping in her mum's flat. It just didn't seem like the same Doctor. Like her Doctor. The man who laid in the bed before her was a stranger. Of course, after he had saved her, once again, Rose started to realize that it was the same man. Just with a younger face and a different fashion sense.
She smiled, remembering how he would ramble on and on, speaking some scientific jargon that only he understood. She thought of the look on his face as he discovered something new, or something that would help get them out of whatever predicament they were in.
She thought of the countless times he had protected her, willing to take on anything to keep her safe. She thought of the countless times he had grabbed her hand, whether it was to pull her away from danger or just to keep her safe. Just thinking about it, she could almost feel his fingers intertwining with hers.
She thought of how much she loved him. How much she missed him. How much she would give up just to have a chance to see him one more time.
Of course, that would never happen. She would never get to see her Doctor, the one man that she loved, ever again.
Rose Tyler cried until she could not cry any more, mourning the loss of her best friend.
