It was the morning after the Montagues & Capulets had lost their heirs. The streets of Verona were eerily quiet. Amongst the silence in the city, Montague & Capulet were discussing what would happen with their families without Romeo & Juliet. Capulet asked Montague, "So what now?". "Honestly, I don't know" answered Montague. Both of them stared out the window of Capulet's house, down at the seemingly empty streets.
A few hours later, the two got messages from the Prince that they, along with Friar Lawrence, were to be tried for the deaths of Romeo & Juliet. "We had nothing to do with this!" Montague said on the way there, outraged. They reached the destination of the Prince's castle after a relatively short time, and noticed two things; the Friar standing in front of the Prince's throne, seemingly contemplating his highness' decision and that said throne was empty. The Friar noticed them and told them, "None of us should be here. We all know the Prince's final decision will be biased against one of us in some way". After an hour of waiting the Prince finally arrived.
"I've thought long & meticulously about this decision" said the Prince in a smug, condescending tone. "The Friar will be banished from Verona. If he's seen in the city, he will be killed on sight" he said in an even more smug, almost excited tone this time. Montague & Capulet stood in silence, appalled. After what felt like hours, Friar Lawrence retorted, "What kind of decision is this? None of us three had ANYTHING to do with the deaths of those two!" Before he could say anything else, the Prince called on guards, who then busted in the door behind the trio and attempted to carry the Friar away. The Friar got loose of the guards and proceeded to run out of the door, guards chasing him. Montague & Capulet left the castle. "Something has to be done about this" Capulet said. Montague didn't reply, but nodded his head in agreement. The two walked to their homes without saying anything else.
