Silent Night

(with apologies to Joseph Mohr)

Silent night, busy night

Steve's been at work since dawn's early light.

Jenny and Danny and Kono and Chin

All left work early to be with their kin.

Won't someone please send Steve home?

Can't someone please send Steve home?

Silent night, lonely night

Steve strums his guitar to no one's delight.

A hymn that he learned when he was a boy,

A carol that speaks of the Virgin's new joy.

Won't someone please send Steve home?

Really, Steve, you ought to go home.

Silent night, starlit night

A knock on the door, because it's polite.

"Are you still here, Steve?" his second inquired.

"Come on, let's go now, I'm sure that you're tired."

"Yes indeed, Danno, I'm weary to the bone.

Really, it's time I went home."

Silent night, blessed night

First, the detectives go out for a bite.

When they return to Steve's rented place,

Imagine the look of surprise on Steve's face

To see his apartment, decorated so grand

By Tom and Mary Ann, standing hand in hand.

Silent night, holy night

Steve's heart is touched by the glorious sight:

Friends and family, now gathered so near

I am so blessed - to Steve, this is clear.

"Mahalo to you, Danno, Tom and dear Sis,

This is a Christmas I'd not want to miss!"
