Only she could see it. The all-consuming pain and anguish locked behind the deceptive mask of mirth and merriment that remained plastered on his face. He was hurting, and she didn't have to be an empath to know it. She had felt the exact same things he was when Malchior had led her on. Now, as she gazed out at him joking around with Cyborg she was reminded of why he was the strongest member on the team. He never let them see how much he felt inside, how much life really got to him. He wanted them to have someone to always be smiling, to always be there to brighten their lives. And to that end he was willing to forgo his own happiness.
It pained her beyond measure to see him go through it alone; that was something that she was used to. Raven would never tell anyone but she felt a kindred spirit within Beast Boy. Something that called out to the loneliness that dwelled inside her and made her feel like she wasn't all alone. But that just may have been wishful thinking on her part. It was completely natural of her to want to have someone to connect with, what was unatural (at least according to Raven) was having feelings for the aforementioned someone. It was unclear to Raven when she had developed...feelings, for Beastboy but what she was sure of was that now that they were here every waking moment in his presence taxed her control to it's limit. She could hardly even stand to glance his way without a lightbulb threatening to combust spontaneously in the nearby vicinity. Not that it mattered anyway. Why would he want to be with someone like her? 'A relationship with me would only breed heartache' she surmised. And the last thing she wanted to do was make him feel that again. After the pain Terra had caused him she was certain that it would kill him. So for now she would be content with the status quo. No matter how much it killed her.
