Sugar Sugar Rune II: The story continues
*Eleven months after the end of the chapter*
Chocolat sits in her chair looking up at the stars, rubbing her belly. Round and round. She sighs and smiles to herself, lost in thought. Round and round. Pierre walks out onto the back porch and sits in the chair next to her, both of them saying nothing and just looking up, lost in the silence of the dark. Round and round. A tiny hint of sunlight cracks just above the horizon line. Round and round. Chocolat outstretches her hand to the side and Pierre gently takes it in his. He smiles at her and she smiles back. "One month" He whispers.
*Twelve years later*
"Mom!" I exclaimed jumping on the bed "Mom wake up we have to go to school!"
"Mocha! Be careful your mother is fragile," My dad walked up behind me and glared.
"Sorry, Dad," I frowned.
"Oh, Pierre," Mom said sleepily. She sat up and glared at him. "If you say I'm fragile again, I'll whup your butt!" She grinned and he smiled shaking his head. He then helped her get out of bed, her swollen belly sticking out. Her orange hair fell to her back and down her shoulders. I have the prettiest mom in the world.
"What are you smiling at, Mochie?" Her emerald eyes looked at me and flickered with curiosity.
"Nothing," I shook my head and got off of her bed.
"Hey what's taking so long?" My sister, Éclair, walked into the room, dressed in her school uniform, her blonde hair in a braid going down her left shoulder.
"Nothing, sweetie, we're ready," Mom smiled. "Alright everyone! Into the car!" Mom rushed us out of the room.
Once we were outside I got into the front seat and Éclair got into the back.
"Good morning Fuwajiri-San," My mother called to our neighbor and he smiled and waved back. I looked out the window and she looked back at me and held up her pointer finger, then she went to check the mail. She stood there for a minute then dropped the card she was holding. I wondered what was taking her so long.
"C'mon, Momma!" I called out the window "We're gonna be late!" She seemed to snap out of it and she quickly picked up the letter and got in the driver's seat.
"Everyone buckled in?" She asked but started the car anyway, the street zooming past us. She drove like a mad woman. I giggled to myself a bit.
"Have a good day at school, girls," Mom smiled as we arrived at school and she dropped us off at the curb like always.
"Thanks, Momma, we will," I smiled back.
"I love you!" She called as we got out of the car. We waved back and she drove off, nearly hitting a garbage can on the side of the road.
"C'mon, Éclair," I said and we walked to her class. I always drop her off first. "See ya later," I waved and walked away.
"Morning, Kato!" My friend Maki called to me as I entered my class. Kato isn't my real surname. My mom said she used it when she went to school here and we have to use it too. I think it's because it's easier to pronounce.
"Morning, Maki," I smiled and sat down next to her.
"Did you hear? There's a rumor that Meguro-Sempai from class 3A likes you!" She smiled big.
"I doubt that," I gave her a look and raised my eyebrow. She shrugged.
"It might be true," She turned to face the sensei, who was now starting class. The lecture seemed to go on and on. I drew in my notebook the whole time.
