She let her weight sag against the firm coolness of the door.
Wow.
She hadn't felt this way since…
She'd never felt this way.
Her hands were cold but her face was hot. She wanted to breathe in all the air in the room, but the fullness in her chest wouldn't allow it.
She was…
"So, how did it go?"
Her mother's voice broke through her reverie.
"Did you get a goodnight kiss?"
How was she supposed to answer that? Did you call it a kiss when your whole world had turned inside out in the space of ten seconds?
They'd kissed before, and somehow every time was better. Hadn't she heard that the first kiss was the best, and it was all downhill from there? Or maybe that was just from that Superman movie. Tonight their kiss had seared through her straight down to her toes. Is that something she should share with her parents?
Probably not.
She wandered toward her room, not remembering if she'd answered them or not.
Her world had changed.
She was in…
A soft knock sounded on her door. It opened a little bit and Elsa's beautiful face peeked out at her.
"Hi. Do you mind if I come in?"
"Of course not," Emma said.
Elsa glided over to her in that soft way she had of moving. "You're glowing, Emma."
"Am I?"
"I've seen that look before, on my sister."
"Let me guess," Emma said. "After she met Kristoff?"
"Exactly."
Elsa hugged her, and Emma hugged her back. This hugging was getting to be a regular thing for her, and she really didn't mind it like she always thought she would.
"I'll say goodnight," Elsa was saying. And then she was gone.
Emma sank down into the chair in front of her dresser, and absently tugged at the elastic holding her ponytail in place. Her hair cascaded down, and she reached her brush, stroking it through the long strands. She remembered the touch of his fingers, and how they'd softly caressed the back of her neck, just at her hairline. And how she hadn't wanted those fingers to stop there.
She sat her brush down on the dresser and noticed the face of the woman looking back at her in the mirror. Elsa was right, she was glowing. That reality brought a blush to her cheeks, because everyone had seen her looking like this. They all had to know now.
She was in love.
