Decisions, decisions

Fang left me. Dylan was always there for me. So why did my heart long for Fang? He has some serious loyalty issues.

Dylan, on the other hand, was almost perfect. Apart from the creepy follow-me-everywhere thing, he was perfect. The perfect gentleman, the most loyal friend, the supportive flock member. He can't live without me, and I'm not sure I can live without him.

I can live without Fang; I proved it when he left. Okay, okay, so I needed his help a little later on, but after all this is over I won't need anyone.

The only things I will need are my wings, gills, and maybe that awesome flight speed. Everything (and everyone) else is just a want. But who do I want? Dylan or Fang?Fang or Dylan? Whoever I choose will break the other's heart, but I must choose soon. I can't string them both along like this.

Fang replaced me with Max II, or Maya as she calls herself, but a name and a new look will not mask the fact that ultimately, she is my clone. Fang loved her, no matter what he tried to tell me.

I spun round suddenly, hyperaware of someone else in the room. Call it an instinct. I braced myself for yet another fight to the death. Then I relaxed. There he was. The guy I had decided on.

"Max," he said. I smiled shyly. He moved towards me and I pulled him into a hug. He began kissing my neck. I giggled and re-aimed his head so he was kissing my lips instead. He pulled me closer, my body against his, and something melted inside me. I knew, at that moment, that I had made the right choice.

The world melted away and I let myself be taken by the flood of passion that we had unleashed together. Nothing could stop us now. Together, we would get through this. And I knew I could rely on him to help me tell…no. I refused to think about that.

When we were finally done kissing, we sat down on the sofa, his arm around me, in a gentle, yet reassuringly firm half-hug.

"I love you Max," he told me with that beautifully manly, yet infinitely soft voice.

"I love you too Dylan," I smiled.
