Kelsi can't figure out how to finish her song.
I still don't own HSM.
"Great. I'll pick you up at eight."
After running through the song a few more times, Ryan and Kelsi finally decided to take a break (Ryan told Kelsi she needed to take a break).
"I still can't figure out what the bridge should say or how it should go," Kelsi said, frustrated.
Ryan shook his head and chuckled. "It'll come to you, don't worry."
Kelsi sighed. "It's just that… this song is really special to me. It's not just something I'm writing for the show. A song has never meant this much to me before…"
Ryan watched Kelsi as she let herself go. She continued talking about the song, and Ryan watched her expressions and gestures. The way her eyes seemed to light up when explaining this particular piece, how her elegant hands kept on moving has if her words weren't enough… Ryan loved everything about his girlfriend.
He smiled at that thought. His girlfriend. Ryan first asked Kelsi out on a date the day they found out they were both up for the Juilliard scholarship. One date became two, and two quickly became two more, and soon enough Ryan Evans and Kelsi Nielsen were East High's latest Wildcat couple.
"… this is more than a sappy love song, this is about us—"
Kelsi immediately stopped speaking and blushed furiously. She looked down at her hands.
"You wrote this about us?" Ryan asked.
"Well, yeah… after this, we're all going our separate ways. And you and I…"
Ryan furrowed his eyebrows in concern. "What about you and I?"
Kelsi looked up at him with worry in her eyes. "I wrote this to reassure myself that we'll be okay. Even if we end up being just friends again—"
Ryan grabbed her hands. "You will never be just a friend to me, Kelsi. Don't you see that? This isn't just some high school fling for me. What we have, it's… it's real. And we'll always be together. Always."
Kelsi smiled gently and placed her hand on his cheek. "I love you."
Ryan smiled back. "I love you, too. It's gonna be alright. We'll be alright."
They continued to gaze at each other for a few second suntil Ryan saw Kelsi's eyes glaze over and she began mouthing words. She turned back to the piano.
Ryan watched excitedly as he realized Kelsi was just about to finish the song. "Did you figure out—"
"Shh."
Ryan closed his mouth and continued to watch Kelsi at work. She repeated chord after chord, wrote and rewrote lyrics, and sang under her breath for a few minutes before she gave Ryan a mega-watt smile. "It's done."
Ryan's eyes lit up with excitement. "That's great! Let's hear it!"
Right as Kelsi was about to play what she just wrote, the bell rang.
"No! Are you serious?" Ryan looked as though he was ready to punch someone.
Kelsi smirked as she began packing up her things. "Guess you'll just have to wait until free period, Mr. Choreographer."
At the end of free period as they walked out of the music room hand in hand, Ryan heard Kelsi quietly singing the bridge to her newly finished masterpiece.
"The sun will always shine. That's how you make me feel. We're gonna be alright 'cause what we have is real. And we will always be together."
Ryan smiled and began singing softly with her.
"All I wanna do is be with you."
