A/N: I've been in a massive publishing rut, so I dared myself to write and upload something within a single day. During Therion's Chapter 2, he had travel banter with Alfyn, but I thought a similar encounter with Tressa would be more interesting (since the entire goal of that part of the chapter is stealing from merchants).

Travel Banter: Tressa and Therion

Tressa winced as Therion once again plied his craft. He had done quite well to avoid stirring up trouble since they had met, but today, his venture demanded it.

Tressa had eagerly agreed the first time, after seeing the listed price of the Oasis Water, but a second theft felt too far. At least Therion hadn't been caught. She didn't know how she'd react if things went wrong.

"Another ingredient?" Therion and Tressa simultaneously groaned to themselves as Therion burst out of Barham's house, a hastily-scribbled note in his hand.

"Umm… Mr. Therion?" the shy teenager peered up at him as they walked through the town of Noblecourt, a fearful expression on her face. "Is this the last time?"

Therion could understand her discomfort, what with being a merchant herself, especially a young, idealistic one.

"As long as Barham doesn't go back on his word again," he griped.

Tressa paused to plan her words. "Are… you sure what you're doing is right?"

She didn't like the tone of Therion's chuckle. "Look, kid, I know they have to make a living too, but they have the things I need, and I don't. And the only way I can get my pride back is to see this through." He shook his well-muscled arm, which still bore the humiliating mark as if it were a heavy manacle.

Tressa looked up at him sadly. "Well," she mumbled bitterly. "It sure doesn't seem to affect your abilities. What, then, is your motive?"

Therion sighed and waved her off, walking ahead of the others.

He hated to admit it, but this kid's disapproval did reach him. A little.

A/N: Finally, I got something done! Should I try some more? Tell me what you think as always!
