For the Father's Day Competition by ChatterChick.
I got Ron/Hugo, and my prompt was "It's funny how it's the little things in life, that mean the most." I like it. It's cute.
Enjoy :)
…
Ron was pacing around the hospital corridor, worriedly. He was ringing his hands nervously.
"Ron, she'll be fine." Jean Granger said, bouncing a giggling two year old Rose on her lap. Michael Granger nodded beside her.
"She had Rose without any trouble."
"Yeah, but this one's a month early!"
"Mr Weasley?"
"Oh my God, what if something happens to Hermione?"
"Mr Weasley."
"Oh my God, what if something happens to the baby?"
"Mr Weasley!"
"What?"
"You can see them, now."
Ron pushed passed the nurse and ran into the hospital room. "Hermione..."
Hermione sat in the bed, holding a tiny, gingery baby in her hands.
She smiled up at Ron. "Hi, Ron." she sounded tired and worn out. Walking over, he kissed her hair. "Do you want to hold him?"
He nodded, talking the small little bundle from her arms.
"He looks just like you."
Ron nodded. "What're we gonna call him?"
"Well, I like the name Hugo,"
He nodded again.
Hugo was a tiny, tiny baby. Ron smiled down at his son.
Hugo blinked his blue eyes Ron.
"Hey, little guy. Hey."
Hugo smiled. Tickling him under the chin gently, Ron chuckled. Hugo smiled wider.
Ron looked up at smiled at Hermione, then back down to his son.
"I think this is the best Father's Day ever."
It's funny how it's the little the little things in life that mean the most, and Hugo was the littlest thing in his life.
…
Aw, I like it. Short and sweet, kinda like Crayon Swirls.
