Title: F Is For Flimsy Excuses

Summary: A phone conversation between Claire and West, after he misses dinner... again.

Warnings: Slight AU, as in most of the end of Season 2 has no meaning here. Dialogue only.

"Look Claire, I'm sorry I couldn't come over for dinner. I'll make it up to you I promise."

"Yeah, of course you'll make it up to me, you always do. But that's not the point here West."

"What are you talking about?"

"Its always 'I'm sorry, I'll make it up to you'. You never give me an explanation. I've been nice about it so far. You like your privacy and I respect that, but now I think I deserve some sort of explanation. West tell me, are you seeing someone else?"

"What!? No! Claire I would never do that to you! How can you even ask that?"

"I know, I know. Sorry, I just had to know."

...A pause...

"So are you going to tell me why you missed dinner?"

"Yeah. Yeah, okay I'll tell you, but you won't believe me."

"Try me."

"Okay, So I was flying and I was on my way to your house and I was, like, really high up, you know? So, I passed this airplane-don't worry no one saw me-and then all of a sudden I run into a goose."

"... A goose? You missed dinner because you were flying and you hit a goose?"

"See! I told you you wouldn't believe me!"

"Oh, I believe you alright. What I'm having trouble comprehending is why you didn't just tell me."

"..."

"West! We can't have a relationship if you don't tell me things. I was really worried when you didn't call!"

"I know. Claire, I'm sorry, I guess I was just embarrassed. I ran into a fricking goose for crying out loud."

"Idiot. So do you still have feathers in your hair, or are you okay for coming over?"

"What, now?"

"Yes now. I want to see you. And I think my dad wants to have a word with you."

"Yeah, about that..."

"Oh come on West, he's not going to abduct you. He probably just wants to tell you off too for missing dinner. Now are you coming over or not?"

"Yeah. I'll be over in a minute."

"Great! Don't hit anymore birds on your way over. Love you!"

"Love you too."

West sighs and closes his phone. Shaking his head he floats into the sky and heads in the direction of Claire's house. He really, really hopes Mr. Bennett just wants to talk like Claire said, the man still gives him the creeps. Luckily, for everyone, he doesn't even so much as see another bird on his way to his girlfriend's house.
