I don't own, blah blah blah, and etc.
I honestly have no idea where this came from. Especially considering how much I can't stand this generation. I hate second generation. I hated the last chapter of the seventh book and considered for some time burning those pages.
However, this little piece was begging to be written. Personally, I don't care for it, but let me know what you think.
"Mum and Dad are gonna kill you," James Sirius Potter told his little brother.
"Go away," he replied.
"How could you do this?" Rose asked, as though he'd just killed someone. "To us? To your family?"
"It's not like I had a choice." Though based on what his father had told him, everyone had a choice, it was just a matter of wanting something bad enough.
"I think I'd probably run away if I was in your shoes," James said, staying as far from his brother as possible, like he was a leper or something.
"I'm not you," Albus reminded him.
"Yeah, well, obviously. Freak."
That's right. Albus Severus Potter had just been sorted into Slytherin.
Albus himself hadn't cared. At first he had been worried that if he'd ended up in Slytherin, his family would hate him. But after what his father had told him, he wasn't so sure it matter. It was just a house, not a label of who he was.
But his family did hate him. The way he saw it, they might never talk to him again.
He just hoped that his father had meant what he'd said, that it didn't matter what house he was in. "No matter what," he'd said. "I'll be proud of you."
The next morning, he received a letter.
Albus,
Just got a letter from James and Rose. Heard you got put in Slytherin. Traitor.
Just kidding. Don't worry about it. Remember what I told you. It doesn't matter what house you're in. Not to me. James and Rose will get over it. They're just surprised(don't tell your mother or uncle Ron that I said that). Okay, they're a little pissed, but what can you expect, it's in their genes to overreact dramatically. But they will get over it. 12 generations of Potters and Weasley's have been in Gryffindor (I had Hermione look it up). You broke that chain. I'm proud of you.
And when someone tells you that Slytherins always turn out evil and Gryffindor is perfect, just remind yourself that it was a Gryffindor who betrayed my parents and got them killed, and a Slytherin who sacrificed himself to ensure that we would win the war with Voldemort.
Oh, and I should warn you, you're mum and Uncle Ron are pissed too. Be on the look out for howlers.
Say hi to Neville and Hagrid for me.
Love,
Dad
