Star for Severus

Star for Severus

Lily and Severus, both thoroughly excited for the train to leave in just a week, lay on their backs in the park. The stars above reflected in their eyes as they gazed at the heavens.

"That one's called Andromeda," Lily pointed at a star far above them.

"You're going to be really good at Astronomy, Lily," Severus remarked.

"I hope so. I really like the stars," she said. "I'm so scared. What if people don't like me there?"

"Hogwarts is no different than your Muggle school," he replied, pulling his arms behind his head and resting on them. "People will like you or not like you wherever you go."

"But what if it turns out that I'm really bad at magic?" Lily was getting more and more worried as the days lessened before their departure.

"I'll still be your friend," Severus said shortly, his eyes still on the night sky.

The two of them sat in the school library, not even a month into their studies. Lily unfolded her star chart and looked over it, touching the feather of her quill to her lips. Severus flipped through a book of filled out star charts and glanced at his own charts periodically.

"Not all of the stars have names, obviously, but a lot of them do. This is really cool," Severus noted.

"Is this one here named?" Lily pointed at a star, and Severus looked for the coordinates in his large book.

"No. No it isn't," he said and Lily automatically started writing on her roll of parchment. She lifted her hand to reveal her writing. There, next to the star, were the words: Severus Majoricus.

Severus laughed, and turned her parchment so he could write as well. Written by the nearest star to his was Lily Majora.
