What if you were in a war. And you were dying. You lost all hope. But then he came, like a beacon of hope. And he offered you a way out. Would you take it?
"5 Tango's crossing you way sir" Came through the radio.
"Let them pass, Bravo team will clear them up" I whispered into the radio.
As I watched the 5 insurgents cross the dust road I could see one of my men getting unease. I placed my hand on his shoulder.
"Listen kid, we're getting out of this alive" I said with a smile on my face. He just nodded shakily. Poor lad. We've been stuck in this dead zone for days now. Rescue was promised. Promised. So where the fuck are they.
"Alright...aaandd...Go!" I whispered and signalled them forward.
We made in to a church. Ironic eh? The one place to find in a war zone that isn't destroyed. It was weird, we kept hearing what sounded like a chopper. We never saw one. We could hear it getting louder in the church.
"Sir, multiple contacts headed our wa-"
Before he could finish there was a loud explosion that blew us off our feet. My ears rang. All I could hear was shouting, gunfire, and the beating in my head. My vision was blurred but after a while it came back and the ringing stopped. My brother was standing over me trying to pull the rubble off.
"Jack. Jack! Get up man! Their coming!" He shouted quickly.
He was starting to panic. I barely came to grips with what happened. In the side of the church was a downed chopper. Body's, rubble, and fire was littered around the room. I could feel the burns on my from the crash.
"They're going to check the crash we better get out of here." He said as he carried me shoulder to shoulder.
He tried pushing the door down but some of the rubble must have blocked it. We were screwed. This was the end. I could hear shooting and shouting from outside. In moment's I could feel immense pain in my stomach. I felt where the pain was an almost black out when I realised I had been shot. My brother laid me down against the wall and gave me a pistol.
"Come on man, we are getting through this!" He said. He knew I wasn't going to make it. I swear to god he was crying but he didn't show no tears. My vision began to blur and all I could hear was my brother and another man sobbing. He had given up. I could see my brother walk up to me, kiss me on the forehead.
"I'll tell mom what happened" He said before walking out of a window with the other soldier. All I could here was gunfire and my brother screaming in anger. All I could do was smile. That man would do anything for his family.
My vision began to darken before I saw a bright light, and then a man in white. He walked towards me slowly. It took me a while but I quickly realised. It was him.
