Just for a quick background Naruto and Sasuke were really close friends in grade school and a little of middle school but they drifted until now.

Guardian angel
"No! Stop it please!" Naruto screamed through his crying as he relived the horror of seeing his parents die.
BRING! BRING!
Naruto's head shot up from his sweat covered pillow, he felt hot tears slide down his face, quickly he wiped them off his whiskered cheeks. Red puffy eyes looked over to the blaring alarm clock. It was 6:05am school started at 8:30am Naruto thought he might as well get ready. Grabbing a towel Naruto went to take a much needed shower.
Getting dressed into an old pair ripped jeans, and a plain black t-shirt Naruto Swiped a piece of toast from the kitchen on his way out the door.
Naruto decided it was a good day to walk to school with the extra time he had. His chains on his belt jingled as he walked through the empty neighborhood.
The sun was just rising over head, the air was calm, nothing was awake yet. Naruto took a deep breath in, savoring the feeling.
Naruto grabbed his textbooks, slammed his locker shut after a moment of hesitation and headed towards first period.
Inside the classroom he found his friends easily Naruto made his way to the back of the room to join them.
First period went by fast since Naruto had slept through most of it. Not like he'd missed anything important. Kakashi sensei never actually taught anything.
On their way from second period Naruto was with his friends, the large group sauntered through the halls talking and joking with each other.
Kiba ran down the school hallways as fast as he could away from a very pissed off Ino. Kiba laughed as he ran, continued to mock his friend as she chased him.
Kiba zigzagged through the mess of people, dodging left and right to hopefully slip away from Ino's sight.
There was a corner up ahead that Kiba could use as his get away!
Laughing at Lee's joke Naruto turned the corner, heading to his locker.
"Look out!"
Naruto yelped in pain as Kiba's arms came contact with his chest, and his elbow hit Naruto square in the jaw.
They were a pile of limbs on the floor. Kiba did his best to untangle them while Naruto sat in shock.
"You okay man?" Asked Kiba, worried for his friend, he held out a hand for Naruto to take.
Naruto saw a flash of red. He flinched away from it trying to protect himself from his attacker. He wanted to cry out but realization hit him. He was in school. This wasn't his dream this was real life.
Looking around Naruto saw that an audience had gathered. One spectator in particular stood out, Sasuke Uchiha, that smug basturd was laughing.
Getting up as fast as his body would allow Naruto fled, tears escaped while he ran.
Worried from what he saw Sasuke slipped through the crowd unnoticed and followed Naruto. The other teen was nowhere to be found though. Running from hall to hall, eventually Sasuke heard whimpers coming from a supply closet. Assuming it was Naruto he knocked on the door.
Naruto gasped in surprise at the sudden noise confirming his existence inside the closet to the unknown figure.
Sasuke knocked again after he heard Naruto gasp. Hesitantly Naruto unlocked the door and let Sasuke in.
Sasuke let the door click shit behind as he took a seat across from Naruto. There was just enough light from the small window for Sasuke to make out the other's features. Naruto looked up to see Sasuke staring at him, in attempt to be smaller Naruto backed himself even further in to the closet if possible.
Naruto was surprised to see Sasuke of all people behind the door, he was the last person Naruto thought would come looking for him.
"What do you want? "Naruto whispered. Sasuke didn't reply, leaving the two in an awkward silence.
Sasuke decided to reach out to touch Naruto's shoulder. "Don't touch me!" Retracting his hand
quickly Sasuke thought for a moment before trying again.
"Naruto what's wrong?" He asked softly.
" I-it's ... It's nothing" Naruto drooped his head to avoid any eye contact with his old friend.
"You can tell me."
"No I can't!" Naruto's pent up anger started to flow out. "You don't understand this isn't something I can just tell people!"
It was shocking to see Naruto so distraught. Sasuke had never seen anyone like this. It was almost feral how Naruto reacted. It was time Sasuke tried a different strategy.
"I'll wait." Was all he said.
"You'll what?" Naruto asked, confused.
"I'll wait." Sasuke repeated himself.
"Wait for what?"
"For you."
There was a long pause after that, one Sasuke had no intention of interrupting.
"Fine."
Sasuke was taken off guard, "Pardon?"
"Fine. I'll tell you." Naruto faced Sasuke his eyes were determined even as his voice shook. "But
if you tell anyone I swear- "
"I promise not to tell anyone"
"Alright, it was a really long time ago I was maybe 5 when it happened."
After each sentence Naruto paused trying to gather his thoughts properly.
"There was a strange knock on the door. My dad answered it. That was when the first gunshot went off. M-m-my dad came running back telling us to hide."
Naruto's expression made him look like a small child again. Sasuke couldn't help but scoot over to the teen in support.
Naruto gladly accepted the offer and rested his head on Sasuke's shoulder. "We ran to the basement, into the back room, my dad had stayed at the bottom of the stairs, I don't remember why."
"There was a bunch if shouts, more gun shots. My dad came running to us shouting something." Naruto stopped.
He forced the next words out. "A sword ran right through him. I watched his face pale, his eyes dim. I watched the blood run out of his body." Naruto was back at his house staring his father lifeless body as his mother ushered him towards the back door.
Naruto felt hollow.
"Another sword came flying, but my mom stepped in front of me, it went straight through her too. It almost hit me. I could see the detailing in the silver I was so close to it." Sasuke wiped away the tears on Naruto's cheeks.
"She smiled at me before she fell. Her last words were that she loved me."
For a while Naruto didn't move, it didn't even look like he was breathing.
"Naruto?"
He began to sob.
Sasuke held him letting Naruto take out all his sorrow, his grief, his anger. They said like that until Naruto was calm enough to stop crying.
"Sorry about your shirt." he laughed half-heartedly letting the last of his tears slide down his cheeks before rubbing them away.
Sasuke didn't know what kind of feelings he was experiencing but they were strong feelings towards Naruto. A desire to protect him.
Naruto slowly moved away from Sasuke but he pulled Naruto back and cuddled him.
"Let's stay here. " Sasuke rested his head in the crook of Naruto's shoulder, closing his eyes as if he meant to fall asleep.
"Yeah let's stay here." Naruto wrapped his arms around Sasuke and closed his eyes as well.
"Ne Naruto, look at me."
Propping his head up Naruto adjusted so he was properly facing the other.
"Yeah Sasuke?"
"Kiss me." Sasuke held his breath as he said the words, anxious to see Naruto's reaction.
"Okay." Naruto leaned in till they were mere millimeters apart. Sasuke filled the space in, connecting his lips to Naruto's.
Their kisses were delicate, but it was a delicate situation. Sasuke let his hands roam down Naruto's body, eventually resting them in his hair.
Naruto hooked his hands at the base of Sasuke's neck and pulled them closer. This caused Naruto to unintentionally fall into Sasuke's lap, not that either of them were complaining.
Leaning back against the wall Sasuke hiked Naruto higher up onto him, deepening the kiss at the same time.
Kiba thought he heard rustling come from a supply closet. Knocking softly, he opened the door poking his head in. The sight he was confronted with was an unexpected one.
It was Sasuke and Naruto making out on the floor.
Crawling away towards Choji and Shikamaru.
"Don't go in guys, it's dangerous."
"This is a job for Lee." Shikamaru deducted.
Lee was there within seconds bursting through the closet door spouting nonsense about youth and love.
Naruto almost shrieked when Lee came in he threw himself away from Sasuke, scrambling to get out of the closet. Sasuke was much more composed, fixing his hair and doing his belt back up as though there was nothing wrong before he exited the closet, Lee close behind him still rambling on.
The period was almost over not that Naruto could remember what he had. He was way too busy with the awkward and increasingly personal questions his friends were barraging him with.
Sasuke had gone his own way earlier, leaving Naruto with one last kiss. Which was the reason behind all his friends' questions.
Naruto blindly followed his friends to a classroom, he didn't even think it was the one he was supposed to be in.
Sasuke had told Naruto to meet him by the cafeteria, he was here but there was no sign of Sasuke. Naruto began to pace in anticipation.
Coming up behind him Sasuke wrapped his arms tightly around Naruto's waist. Naruto jumped at the stranger's grasp but quickly recognized it to be Sasuke and relaxed.
Naruto's friends were all watching the pair and their closeness. Waiting to see what confirmation they could obtain.
They all had free period now and per usual Naruto and his friends went outside, with the addition of Sasuke.
On their way the group ran into some of Sasuke's friends who invited themselves into the group.
Under an oak tree away from the blistering sun the cluster of teens relaxed. Naruto and Sasuke were the center of everyone's' attention since these two groups had never once clashed like they were now.
Neither of them had anything to say so all of them were left in an awkward silence.
It was Kiba who gathered the courage to speak first.
"So Naruto you and Sasuke are a thing now?"
"Yeah Sasuke, enlighten us." Karen pitched in.
Instead of talking Sasuke leaned over to Naruto and kissed him passionately on the mouth, leaning over top Naruto to gain some dominance in the kiss.
In a fit of distressed screaming Sakura arrived.
"OF COURSE THEY'RE BOTH GAY GOD FORBID THEY LIKE GIRLS!"
"Actually Sakura I'm bi- "
"Shut up Naruto I'm trying to rant." After that everyone left Sakura to her screaming.
Now the teens were mingling and crossing sides, freely conversing with each other.
The bell rang for last period to begin, rushing inside they said their goodbyes to each other and parted ways for class.
Naruto shared art with Sasuke so they went to class hand in hand.
Upon their late arrival the teacher was quick to inform them of their open assignment, thus leaving the classroom.
Open assignment obviously meant paint anything. Naruto decided on a bowl of ramen. Classic. Sasuke on the other hand set up his station facing the window, his intentions being to paint the landscape.
At the end of the day Sasuke offered Naruto a ride who excepted. It turned out when he said ride he didn't mean drop Naruto off at home, he meant take Naruto to his house.
"By the way my cousin Tobi is in town, he is staying at my house for now." Sasuke paused before starting again
"My cousin he is kind of weird" Sasuke tried again but wasn't really sure how to explain his cousin.
"Don't worry about." Sasuke thought that would have to be sufficient.
When they got inside they were greeted by Tobi pouting at Sasuke's uncle Madara.
Sasuke groaned at his cousin's antics, while Naruto giggled. Tobi came running around the corner sticking his tongue out at Madara for being mean. Tobi continued on his imaginary path after that. Naruto had suddenly stopped giggling. His eyes were wide and scared.
Sasuke led the trembling teen up the stairs to his room where they could talk without being disrupted.
After Sasuke had calmed Naruto down he asked,
"Are you okay, what did you see that scared you so much?" Naruto was hesitant to answer but eventually he did.
"I was there; I saw them again." Naruto trailed off at the last part.
Sasuke rubbed his back soothingly trying to distract Naruto from the memory. Slowly laying him down Sasuke kissed Naruto as reassurance that he was in the present, that he was safe.
"Let's stay here. " Naruto said.
Naruto intertwined his and Sasuke's hands, playing with them as they lay on Sasuke's bed.
Naruto was fascinated by how his and Sasuke's hands were so different but they fit together perfectly.
Naruto curled on top of Sasuke's chest, listening to his steady heartbeat and slow breathing. Drifting off he heard Sasuke reply.
"Yeah, let's stay here."
