Crossing the Line
Sam waited patiently, a silent sentinel in the darkness, as he watched Dean through the lighted windows.
It was odd spying on his brother after what seemed so much longer than it really was, but too much had happened in the time they'd been apart. Sam couldn't imagine things ever being the same again.
He yearned to pull his brother into a tight embrace and to be able to tell him that they would never be apart again.
But no matter how close you are to someone there's always a line you cannot cross.
Especially when it's made of salt.

Lineage
Dick Roman sighed in satisfaction as he thought about the accomplishments of the last year. Everything had fallen into place now, roughly 75 years since his last, short-lived escape from Purgatory.
Dealing with the angel had been an unexpected complication, but then he'd never considered Castiel a suitable companion for Dean in any case.
He regretted that Sam and Dean had drawn the battle lines as they had, but they wouldn't be the men they were, and in truth he would've been disappointed, if they hadn't.
Yes, it was time Grandpa Winchester revealed himself as the head of the family.

Okay, so I'm not sure that last one makes any logical sense, but once I got the idea stuck in my head there was only one way to exorcise it! Sticking with this theme, next week Roman will be asking Sam if he's courting, before warning him he'll never get a job with that haircut.
