why did Paul of all people have to show up. i mean really the day had gone perfectly. the restaurant was gorgeous, the food delicious. Not to mention my favourite part, sitting across from him. He looked up at me, that▓s strange. His eyes clouded over as he glared at something behind me. There was only one person who could inspire that kind of reaction. I kept eating, there was no way I▓d give Paul the satisfaction of acknowledging his presence. I did notice him as he walked by our table with Kelly (of course) on his arm. When I had reflected his offer to escort me to prom he had quickly asked Kelly. Ever since then it's almost like they've been stalking me. I looked back up at Jesse who had calmed down, apparently he had the same idea I had. Unfortunately a certain someone wasn't going to make it easy. As pula passed our table he dropped a not. Jesse grabbed it before I old. I could tell this was not going to go well. I saw the anger in his eyes before he snapped the bread stick.

"can I please see what the not says?" I asked

"I▓d rather you not." he answered

"what am I supposed to think when you start getting secret notes? am I boring you?" I teased

the seriousness in his voice surprised me "you know how I feel."

"yeah I do, I also know how you feel about Slater. Is that some sort of challenge."

"If only, I▓d love a chance to teach him a lesson."

"if I don▓t get that note your going to get it." I warned (only half teasing)

he handed it over and I scanned it over before I dropped it on the floor. someone would sweep it up later.

"well...?" he asked

"what?"

"so you see what I was ... upset" he explained

"that really wasn't that big of a deal" I laughed

"he can't just say that, I▓m going to have to do something about him."

"he's just a pest, really." I explained

"a pest you dated for 2 years."

"on and off." I qualified.

"none the less, you've known him ever since you moved here. Besides you had feelings for him once."

"it's complicated."

seeing my mood he called for the bill. Despite my protest he paid for me as well.

He defended himself as we excited the restaurant.

"We're celebrating your acceptance into NYU. I couldn't let you pay."

"I guess..."

"Aren't you excited?" he asked

"No."

I saw his face begin to fall and quickly explained.

"I'm relived."
