Hello everyone! I'm sorry this is so short, it's my first fanfic! :3 If I get some reviews I will continue this, as I do like writing as Clary. Any advice is welcome.
I lay on Simon's bed, willing myself to sleep. I've had three days straight with no sleep, and it's finally catching up to me. How could I rest though, when Jace is away from home? My stomach turns and my heart pinches even at his name. I turn onto my stomach and groan into the pillow. Simon wasn't home; he was out at a restaurant having a 'romantic dinner' with Isabelle. Finally, their relationship seemed to be going somewhere, but mine and Jace's had come to a halt, even if it wasn't purposeful. Forcing the tears to dry out, I close my eyes and slow my breathing. Sometime later, I manage to sleep, and I feel Simon's cold arms wrap around me.
When I wake, I smell the sweet aroma of pancakes. Jumping from Simon's bed, I run to the bathroom and shower, enjoying the pressure of the cold water falling on my face and body. When dry, I walk out of the bathroom, towel drying my hair, and head for the kitchen.
"Simon, you better be making pancakes for more than just yourself," I grin when he turns to face me and give me a smirk. My grin fades when I see an all too familiar head of golden blonde hair, sat behind the kitchen counter. "Jace," I breathe out, and run towards him. The last thing I see before we're in a tight embrace is his golden eyes turn soft when they meet my green ones.
"Clary," he kept repeating my name over and over whilst stroking my hair, squeezing me tightly against him and kissing my cheek, neck, forehead, temples, shoulders and collar bone before finally staring into my eyes, murmuring three words and giving me a long, passionate deep kiss. Fire roars through my veins, and I grab his face with my hands and suck on his lower lip. He lets out a quiet moan and I smile against his lips, satisfied with how strong our kisses are. I eventually pull back, and Jace pulls me onto his lap, wrapping his arms around my waist. I try to catch Simon's eye, to try apologise for our outburst, but he keeps his back to us both.
I clear my throat and try to avoid conversation with Jace in front of Simon, and try to start up a conversation with Simon instead. "So, how was Isabelle?" I feel Jace's chest rumble slightly against my back, and I hit one of the tattoo covered hands wrapped around me playfully to try making him shut up.
"She went home early." Was his only response, as he turned and gave me a pained expression as he put pancakes on two plates on the table in front of us.
"Oh." I say, murmuring around a mouthful of waffle.
"I told you, she'd pick you up and throw you around like a doll. That's all you are to her –" I cut Jace off with a scowl, and watch Simon try to fight his anger away. I drop the pancake which was almost on its way to my mouth, and I can sense the tears he's fighting back, so I jump up from Jace's warmth and safe arms and grab Simon's wrist, pulling him away from the kitchen.
"Explain." I say as softly as possible.
"She went off to kill a demon, saying that was more important than us." I shake my head impatiently, knowing that's exactly the kind of thing Izzy would say.
"You know how she gets hyped up, she doesn't like being out on the action is all – hey, didn't she call you or anything afterwards?" Simon shook his head, biting his lip.
"She wasn't at the institute this morning, either." I hear Jace say behind me, placing a hand on the small of my back.
"Shit."
