It was a beautiful day in South Park. The sun was shining, the birds were singing, the grass was green…

Wait; the grass was GREEN?

There rarely is any time when the grass in South Park was visible. But on this summer day, Darren McElroy and two of his friends, Rita and Rosalie, were in Fire Island in New York, a beach trip. They were on a MTA Bus (which Darren hates), which traveled from the Babylon train station to the south shore beaches. All of a sudden a thump was heard as the bus hit an unsuspecting deer.

"Oh my god, I killed a deer!" Then he talks to himself. "You bastard!"

Turns out the deer got up unharmed and just ran away.

Typical of Rosalie, thinking about the deer being dead made her cry. She's a very compassionate and gentle soul. Her friend Rita managed to calm her down and showed her the deer running along side the bus.

They arrived at Field 4 in due time. The tide was great and the weather was, a little hot. That didn't stop Darren from being a total scardy cat. When he touched the water, he shivered. It's always cold at first.

Rita approached him. "Come on ya scardy cat! It's just water!" Rita was the total opposite of Rosalie. Nothing could scare her. She pushed Darren in then went back to help Rosalie with the sun block. She needed a lot being a ginger.

The lifeguards all went off duty and the waters were deserted. Something stupid was bound to happen. Sure enough, some drunk surfer dude attempted to jump in and go for a surf round. Darren knew him. He didn't know his name but he knew he was an idiot.

"Don't do it! You could get killed!"

"Nice try duuuuuude, I know there's no danger out there."

"Remember Jaws? No one saw him coming."

"Duuuuuude that was just a mooovie." And he jumped in.

But as it turns out there WAS a shark in the water. And he was the next target. The shark, a hammerhead looking for a meal, went for the leaping bite. And the surfer was trapped.

There were people who could have rescued him but the water was too cold for them. And the shark was not alone. There was another, almost as if they were twins. Rita was only scared of a few things and it seemed sharks were one of them. Or maybe she was being smart and not scared.

But then…

Rosalie, with the most confident look she had in ages, looked at them dead on. Darren realized what she was about to do. "No Rosie! Don't do it!"

"No, let her go," said Rita. "This is her big moment."

"Are you mad? She could get herself killed!"

Rita kept her confidence in Rosalie. It seems she knows something about her that no one else does.

Rosie jumped into the waters, then looked at the shark with the surfer in his mouth dead in the eye. Hammerhead sharks have pretty shit eyesight so when it saw her, oh boy.

"Oh shit! It's a human! We're dead!"

"Dude that was just a TV show they're not really dangerous."

"Remember the bull shark? The humans got him too!"

And they swam away as fast as their fins could.

And Rosie in one day went from the lovable shy girl to the hero of Fire Island. Turns out her being ginger kept her immune to cold waters and that the hunter who killed the other shark looked just like her.

Back in South Park, she returned to her normal self. No one but Rita, her closest friend, has ever known of her one heroic moment.
