This idea just popped in my head….and it's rather short but oh well.
"Ginny, it's time," Hermione said as she knocked on the door, which was opened slightly so that she could peek in.
"Alright, I'll be ready in a minute." Ginny sniffed. A sigh came from the door and Hermione crossed the room to her best friend.
"Don't get cold feet on us." She smiled slightly through her tears.
"I promise, I'll walk down that aisle if it's the last thing I do." Ginny said determinedly. Suddenly a ringing echoed throughout the room, and Hermione's hands flew to her pocket.
"Hello. Yes. That's fine. Hmmm. Thank you." She hung up the phone and returned it to her pocket. "Everything is ready."
"Why don't you go on out now, I just need a moment to compose myself." Ginny's eyes pleaded against Hermione's judgment.
"Alright, but I want to see you in a few minutes, ready to see Harry."
"I will." There was a moment before Hermione nodded and then left the room without another word. "I have to do this."
Taking a deep breath, Ginny pulled the veil over head. Then with one last look in the mirror, and a glance at her diamond on her left ring finger, she crossed the room quickly as if walking any slower would make her change her mind. A deep breath prepared her to open the door, and move out into the hall where her father waited to escort her.
She had dreamt of this moment before, off and on when she was at Hogwarts, and more often during the war. Her father took her arm and they began the trek to Harry. Ron and Hermione were the only ones standing with him. They had decided that it was better to keep it private.
When she looked into his eyes, they were strangely glassy and held no emotion; his hand, when she grabbed it, was cold. A tear ran down her cheek, but she prevented anymore from falling as she placed her other hand on the shiny blackness that surrounded him. The same blackness that soaked the clothes she was wearing; and, the veil across her face left black lines across her vision, but she hardly noticed.
"Goodbye, Harry."
She had never said they were good dreams.
