It was like seeing James Potter, back from the dead to gloat. He gazed upon him, wondering if he would be an insufferable as his father before him. Would a Potter boy give him another hellish seven years?
No. He wouldn't let it bother him.
And then the boy looked at him – their eyes met across the hall, and Snape felt like his soul was on fire.
James stared at him, with Lily's eyes. Lily's green eyes that at some point stopped understanding him. Wouldn't forgive him.
Those eyes would never give him the absolution he wanted.
He glared back.
