Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto

I am really sorry that I haven't updated in a VERY long time. I will hand out cookies so that the readers don't beat me up. O.O

But I have a really really pathetic reason for this. I was somewhat under depression, stress, and generally a feeling of supernovas going off in my brain. I wanted to do everything and didn't want to do anything. The general teenage angst. I also realized - from my fanfiction friends - that you need a plot skeleton to make the story ACTUALLY interesting... So I might have, kind of tornthestoryapartandmadeitbetter? I have an actual plot now and I really like it XD Enjoy!~

Naruto listlessly stared at the desolate view. Bodies were strewn, houses burned, and blood splatters covered more of the ground than dirt did. But nothing was worse than the sight of Sasuke's dead body. He seemed to be asleep, body relaxed, mouth curling into a small smile as if he was having a good dream. But the knife sticking out told the truth. Sasuke was dead.

Silent tears poured down Naruto's face, mixing with his blood.

They'd finally defeated Orochimaru, Madara, Tobi, and even the fucking Ten Tails. The world was not controlled by a freak who wanted to experiment on every human body that interested him. Nor was it controlled by a freak who wanted to brainwash his citizens to obey his every word. The world was saved, now able to start anew and build better relationships instead of chaos the Ninja world suffered for centuries.

He wanted to say "Believe it!" or "To become Hokage is my dream!" or "Dattebayo!" or…

BUT HE COULDN'T. He couldn't.

A part of him raged at the world for killing all he loved… Sakura, Kakashi, Gai, Granny Tsunade, Jiraiya, Hinata, and every one of his friends and family. Another part of him wanted to let the feeling of grief flood his body. Letting him embrace that chocking feeling of pain inside his heart, to let himself suffer and love those that died. The biggest part of him wanted peace, to be reunited with his parents and family. Ever lasting peace.

His body began to tremble. The sky was getting darker now and rain began to pour down onto him, soaking him to the core. Wind blew left and right, buffering him from all directions as if it was revenge from the dead souls he couldn't save.

He wished the souls would take revenge. He wished that the souls would kill him, tear him to bits and pieces and make him beg for mercy. At least then, he could feel instead of this dull ache that resounded in his heart.

On the borderline of consciousness and unconsciousness, his hand began to travel to the knife in Sasuke's body. Unlike the rest of his body, his hand was steady. Using his hand, he expertly pulled out the knife in one swift move without rupturing any veins or arteries. The knife headed his way, making its way towards his throat. Naruto closed his eyes.

Peace.

Suddenly, the knife was knocked out of his hand with such force that two of his fingers broke. However, Naruto barely registered the pain.

"What do you think you're doing?"

Naruto looked up. It was the Kyuubi.

"Nothing." Naruto replied platonically.

"Don't fool with me human, your attempts at lying were always pitiful, even if they did work with others of your kind. You'd never fool me."

"Nothing." Naurto said, harshly this time.

The Kyuubi laughed wildly, making a sound that was a mix between a growl and a high pitched pinging sound. "So you finally gave up human? Stopped trying to convince me of the tenacity in humans? I always knew it was a matter of time until you broke as well."

Naruto screamed, "Stop it!" His hands wrapped around his legs tightly as to block out everything and everyone. He didn't want to listen to his demon or his inner demons.

"You decide to kill yourself when you now have a chance to become Hokage. Is this not the sign of your brokenness?"

"I said shut up!"

"Did you not say that you wanted cure the malice in me?"

"…"

"Did you not make a promise to your father? Will you not follow your own nindo?"

Naruto didn't reply. Pools of tears cascaded down his face.

Kurama stared at the blonde covered in old blood. The boy didn't look any different from when he was happy, laughing with his friends a few months ago. Except for his eyes. The blue cerulean eyes that were unusually bright in even the most desolate situations were dull. It was disturbing.

He didn't like the boy looking like this.

The demon paused. When did he start caring for this boy? At first when he was sealed – again – he was furious. He was angry with the boy's father, the boy, and humans in general, but mostly at the boy as he was his current jailor. He'd thought that the boy was no different than any of the other jailors, not caring for anybody but themselves. But slowly, his views shifted as the boy began to grow up into an unexpected ninja, one who cared for almost anyone, even his enemies. Kurama had to admit that boy frightened – no – astounded him when he had the gall to shout in his face that he was going to cure his "malice." Nobody had done that before.

This boy was hard to hate.

He growled, "There is a way."

The boy did not answer; instead, he stared into nothingness.

He growled louder, "There's a way!"

The boy, startled, turned to stare at him with his jaded blue eyes.

"What way?" Naruto whispered. His body curling in on himself even more, scared of what his demon would say, scared of hoping.

"A way to get back."

Naruto stopped shaking. "Get back what?"

"Your friends, your family, and… them." The Kyuubi waved a tail to the strewn broken bodies around them. Most of them were grotesque, ripped from limb to limb and their skin melted into liquid from the explosion of the ten tails. But you could identify some of them from their clothes and faces. Neji, Hinata, Kakashi, Sakrua…

Naruto looked to the bodies too. He saw the frightened faces and his memory of their happy expressions mixed all together. He remembered the good times he had and the bad times he had with them. Naruto's heart felt like it was thawing right after frostbite, very painful but relieving. "H-how?"

"Time traveling."

"You mean what Obito did?"

"No, something very different from what Obito did. He only manipulated dimensions, switching from dimension to dimension so that they could travel. However, because they traveled from alternate dimensions that weren't theirs, they couldn't remain in the time period for long periods of time. Otherwise, they would suffer from alternate dimension sickness and fade after the amount of time they were allowed. I would manipulate space itself, distorting the time to throw us back into the past, making our time travel permanent."

Naruto went cross-eyed. He was never good with theories; he was much more an action person.

The Kyuubi sighed. He was very familiar with Naruto's slow brain for theories. He was stuck in the boy's mind for more than fifteen years. (One of the reasons he was so enraged. Why did he have the luck to be stuck in the stupidest ninjas of the century? Kushina was no braniac either) So instead of trying to make the boy understand, he continued, " In order to do this, I need to wait until the demon solstice, when my yin energy can meet with my yang energy. When the two energies meet, my powers will be at its maximum, even overpowering the ten tails. The demon solstice comes once every century, but you're in luck Naruto, it will come in four years."

Naruto blinked."What jutsu will you use?"

"Will you understand it?" The Kyuubi asked.

Naruto's puffy eyes crinkled and his mouth turned into a slight smile. "I'll try my best."

Kurama smirked. "It'll be the same as not trying."

"Hey! I said I'd try my best!" Naruto croaked. Not a full yell, but it was close enough. However, his eyes were still jaded with grief.

Kurama rolled his eyes. "I will use a jutsu passed down from the Sage of the Six Paths. It's called the vortex. My energy and your energy will mix with space itself, creating something like a typhoon in space, sucking us in. It will then transport us to the past. I'm not too sure where and when we will land as time traveling is a delicate procedure that even the Sage of the Six Paths was reluctant to try, but you seem determined."

Without hesitation, Naruto replied, his mouth clenched in a determined line, "I don't care as long as I can save my friends."

"You might die or end up in the wrong time if I make a mistake. We could even go back to when I was born."

Naruto glared at the ground. "I DON'T CARE!" He shouted. "I'll d-do anything." Tears streamed down his face again.

"Then train and grow. If you are determined to save your friends, the power you have now will not be enough. And I must train as well. Time traveling is a delicate art and it can blow up in our face if I am not careful. I will meet you back here in four years." The Kyuubi turned and tensed his hind legs to jump over the rotten remains of bodies but he paused to listen to Naruto.

"Thanks." Naruto whispered.

Kurama grinned and leapt.

Okay, so for those of whom are confused in why Kurama can suddenly move around on its own, its because this fic takes place AFTER Naruto notes that Kurama is no longer the monster fox that attacked Konoha, but the village's ally and his team-mate in the shinobi world war. Therefore, Naruto unlocks the seal's gate as he and Kurama prepared to face the five remaining, fully-transfored Jinchuriki in their new form.
