This is just the way life goes…
The early morning breeze picked up its pace as it blew around a pair wound together as one. A boy and a girl spending a last night together, the last few lines of a fairy tale come true. The sky above ran pink and purple with the impending sunrise, but they didn't notice… didn't care.
Her brown eyes fluttered open, a small smile gracing her lips. She pushed herself away from him, her nose leaving the sweet smelling crook of his neck. They regarded one another for an immeasurable amount of time before she readied herself to speak.
"We should go back." Her voice was low, as if not to disrupt the perfect end of night and shy beginning of morning.
"Mmm," he shook his head, dark hair just long enough for her to pull on while taken by a moment of passion swinging around, a small smile pulling at his lips as his blue and yellow eyes looked from her eyes to her lips.
"No, we really should." A grimace of disappointment twisted her face as her low voice got a bitter note to it.
His strong arms pulled onto their resting place around her waist, pressing her to him even more. Their foreheads touched and she closed her eyes, savoring every second of it. She would miss him, she knew, but she didn't want to think about it. All she cared about was here and now. Their foreheads broke their contact to give way to a lip-lock.
Soft lips caressed each other; tongues flicked just enough to graze, warm breath gave an almost elegant warmth and comfort to the simple act. It didn't last very long, nor did it have to. It was perfect. All was just perfect and she resented it. Resented the way he made her long for romance, resented his making her overstep her dignity, resented how darn good it felt.
She pulled away and took his hand in hers, twining the fingers, pulling him in the direction of the hotel. Always the irresponsible one she was until she met him. Now, she became the initiator, the worrier, the responsible. In the five short days they had known each other she had changed subtly, but greatly.
"I don't wanna go back."
"Stay," he said and pulled her to a stop.
"I shouldn't."
And yet again she turned to him and rested her weight on his. Her arms warped around his neck, his around her waist pushing their bodies together, her nose finding that familiar crook and breathing his sweet scent in, his eyes closing and lips stretching.
Again they stopped in a warm embrace, willing for time to stop, bathing in the sweetness and magic of what they experienced. They only knew each other for five days, yet she knew he was perfect for her and that she would compare every other boy she met with him.
Karma is a bitch but this is just the way life goes…
A.N. Not very long but I like it. I'm very proud of myself since it's 99% description and I kinda suck at those lol I hope it meant something to somebody, stirred a memory, triggered a plot bunny… something! =D
And let's say it's Alternate Universe and Harry and Hermione just met. Also no Wizarding stuff, just two muggles and a summer romance =] I hope I didn't screw up the descriptions or anything since I didn't purposely write it for a pairing but decided on it later on.
I'd really appreciate it if you'd review and tell me what you thought of it. Criticism is always welcome too lol…but only if it's constructive :P
