"Oh, well, I was born in the year of the Ox!" She grinned, raising her fist in the air as she felt so proud.
"So was I!" Hatsuharu said, having the same grin, as big as he possibly could. This was a rare moment, as Hatsuharu never smiled and he had never met an Ox as pretty as her. Sure, they were young, but Hatsuharu knew he found a friend in her.
"Let's be friends, then! Ox Power!" She said, laughing as she ran. "Let's play tag. You're it!"
He began running after her, laughing as they went.
She wasn't watching her steps as she fell down a hill, letting out a slight yelp -- Hatsuharu, a mere inch away from her, hugged her and made sure he caught her fall. They reached the bottom of the hill, and poof.
Hatsuharu didn't plan on running into her like this -- all he wanted was to softly poke her in the arm once he caught her.
She, clueless of the calf's transformation, wandered around looking for him. "Haru! Haru!" She called for a few times, before noticing the calf standing infront of her. A second later, Hatsuharu transformed back into his true form, leaving her shocked.
Hatori, the seventeen year old doctor at the Sohma house, called Haru's name at the top of the hill. He looked angry, disappointed in Haru, since he had told him so many times to be damn careful.
And that day, that poor little girl was taken in by Hatori and forgot every single thing about Hatsuharu and the incident. She acted as if they never even met.
When Hatsuharu had hope to have a new friend that didn't ever ridicule him of being a foolish ox, she was gone in an instant.
That was the day before Hatsuharu had finally stood up to Yuki, the rat.
"I am not a fool."
