"Then-" "Then I propose to Sara," Neal finished, nodding at Mozzie from across the table. Mozzie sipped his wine, nodding. "And they take the happy couple up to the one hundred and third floor, where you two love brids construct the blimp, and wait for James to bring the box so we can fly it to your place," Mozzie said, leaning back in his chair with a satisfied smile.
"Are you ready for the proposal?" Neal ran his fingers through his hair before answering, "Yeah, I think so. Sara agreed to it, I have a speach planned out, and June said she'd donate a ring to the cause, so I think everything is set. I've even made the reservations." Mozzie looked at him, noticing the look in Neal's eye. "But?" He asked. Neal sighed and shook his head. "It's just," he started, "Mozz. I don't think I want it to be just part of the plan."
Neal searched his friend's face for some kind of reaction. "What?" Mozz exploded after a moment of silence. "Neal! What are you thinking? This could tottally jeopardize the plan! You can't get married! What have I always told you, there just isn't a happily ever after for guys like us! Besides, she's moving to London-" "I know, Mozz!" Neal exclaimed, cutting the little guy off. "Look, I know. She's leaving. I get that, I just... I don't know." Neal shook his head.
"Well, I *do* know. It's impossible, Neal. It would never work." Mozzie said it with such finality, that there wasn't much room to argue, but Neal made it work. "Nothing is impossible. The word itself says I'm possible." Mozzie gave him a look and said "Oh, so you're quoting Audrey Hepburn now, are you?" Neal smiled and gave a slight nod.
"Look, Neal," Mozzie started, his tone almost consoling, "I know you like her, but... she's moving to London and you can't leave a two mile radius. She is an insurance investigator and you're a conman. You two couldn't be more different." "You know what they say Mozz. Opposites attract." Neal's voice was indifferent, but his mask didn't work on Mozzie. The bald man could see the look in his anklet wearing friend's eyes.
"Neal. You've got to let this go," Mozzie said, standing to pour himself some more wine. "Yeah," Neal sighed, "Yeah, you're right Mozz. It wouldn't work." Mozzie looked at his friend. "I'm always right," Mozzie said. Neal couldn't help but laugh.

"I have my own flight to catch now," Sara said, looking at him apologetically and handing him the ring. They had successfully set the blimp on its way to Neal's apartment, and it was just the two of them, with no obligation except Sara's impending flight. "Sara… Thank you," Neal said, and he wasn't just thanking her for her help with this plan. He was thanking her for everything. All the kisses, the nights, the dinners, and the art. Everything.
"Fly safe," she said. "You too," he returned. He kissed her, and the lyrics to that stupid Taylor Swift song he heard on the radio the other day ran through his mind. Stumble through the long goodbye. One last kiss, then catch your flight. When she pulled away, she said "Stay out of trouble, Caffrey."
Then she was gone. And Neal was left to pick up the pieces.
